More High Wage Earners Moving Out Of Newcastle

Well, it’s finally happened and after three years on Tyneside Emmanuel Riviere has made a move to French club Metz.

That gets Riviere’s wages off the wage bill finally, and he’s on a two year deal at Metz.

This is what was put out on Newcastle’s website today:

Emmanuel Riviere has completed his move to Ligue 1 side Metz.

The 27-year-old makes the move to the Stade Saint-Symphorien just over three years after joining United from Monaco.

During his time on Tyneside, the French forward also spent time out on loan at Spanish side Osasuna, where he spent the entirety of last season.”

Since his arrival in the summer of 2014, Riviere made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies, scoring three goals.

During Rafa’s press conference today for the game tomorrow at home to West Ham, Rafa said it was important to trim his squad to allow new players to come through the door in the final six days of the transfer window.

Emmanuel Riviere – finally leaving Newcastle

Rafa also said Siem de Jong is close to a move from Newcastle after three years on Tyneside and he is reported to be in advanced negotiations with his former club Ajax, who are said to be keen to take him back.

Here’s the latest ins and outs at Newcastle – we have estimated the fee for Riviere to be £1M but it could even have been a free transfer.

Loic Remy re-signing then. What about the Kenedy loan deal?

Remy? Are people having a laugh, no thanks.

Mitro won’t start tomorrow as he played over 90mins midweek, rafa doesn’t think the modern player can play 2 games in 1 week. Even though we have very little in the way of fixture congestion

What’s this all about going to let yh8s one because of money again give him 3 years and decent wages or lose him. Newcastle youngster Yasin Ben El-Mhanni is being tracked by Leicester and Brighton as contract talks stall.

    – still working on transfers in & out
    – team will improve with work
    – have to change players to improve the squad for new league
    – we have too many players (31)
    – concentrate on the next game only
    – Gayle is not at the same level as last year yet
    – Lejune, Yedlin, Darlow injured/out
    – Aarons no guarantee
    – Rafa remains confident
    – fans support even more important
    – all clubs have their own problems
    – belief, responsibility and taking our opportunities

Getting rid of the dead wood is going far, far, far too slowly. And we got nothing for Riviere according to nufc.com. That’s what he’s worth. I don’t consider De Jong worthless so I hope we get something for him. What a disaster. Still no decent striker in. Still no decent AMF in. Now we’re talking about Remy? Three years too late. All he’s done is sat on the bench.

That’s starting to sound feeble Lindisfarne mate. It’s all Rafa can say I realize but I’m not confident at all now. This looks like a real battle to rise above 18th with this squad. Time will tell but we need more than a Remy in. What about Dennis Praet? Is that one gone by the wayside as well?

Rising above 18th was always going to be a battle and the only realistic target for this season.

Tomorrow at home against a poor West Ham gives us a decent chance of 3 points. Its too early to give up on this season as some seem to be doing. If you have a meltdown at every defeat or minor setback you’ll be in the funny farm in no time. If your feeling that way, take a breath, calm down, get some fing perspective on things and enjoy the match. Otherwise whats the point?

Only 2 wks into the season and how the mood has changed. We have went from optimism to total gloom. we have been totally toothless in our first 2 prem games and cant see it changing. wty would Benitez change a formation that he has used all his managerial career. We support Rafa for standing by us through the rough times but, if we had started this same way under Mclaren or Pardew, we would be shouting for his head.

Wonder if Fatty will show his face? If the game goes badly he will have to leave the stadium quicker than he shipped Carroll to Liverpool
