Newcastle Fans Have Their Say On Mitrovic Incident

It’s looking like Aleksandar Mitrovic will get a three match ban because of the elbow he gave to Lanzini in the second half of the game yesterday when we took West Ham apart 3-0.

And it will take effect when the two-week International break is over two weeks time when we are at Swansea.

Rafa has had issues with Mitro before which is probably one reason he will eventually sell him but not this summer, simply because we don’t have enough strikers in the ranks.

And hopefully we will be bringing in another striker in the next week so we will not miss Mitro too much, but the 22-year-old has to cut this kind of nonsense out on the pitch.

Here are some typical reactions on Twitter from Newcastle fans about the incident.

I just don’t know why he does this. All footballers know there are loads of cameras all over the ground, every player who is elbowed or kicked know if they go down it will be looked at by all.

He should of learnt by now not just because of the bans but also he is giving Rafa the reason he won’t pick him regularly – he can’t be trusted.

Just proves what most of you know about this game where are the merino haters now you never gave him a chance after one game and he wasn’t that bad at Huddersfield

Seriously worried that Rafa may leave for West Ham. They have more ambition, money, better players

Hoping the love from our fans will keep him, but if he doesn’t get in at least 3 players I could see him leaving.

It was Pete Graves who was saying Rafa to Westham has legs.

Do we know if the FA will intervene?…or is it just people overreacting?

All the folk so ready to condemn their own player.
I’ve waited until all the sanctimonious ladies had their say
1 The ref had a clear view
2 Lanzini has previous for feigning injuries
3 Mitro was looking the other way
It was clumsy but not deliberate OR malicious it was moree Lanzini running into Big Al
    The incident

    A quote from NUFC.COM

Unfortunately Mitro managed to land himself in bother with a staggeringly stupid elbow on Manuel Lanzini which may result in a retrospective three match ban.

However, referee Neil Swarbrick clearly saw the incident and explained to West Ham players during the game that he judged the contact to be accidental.

Similar to the Steve Mounie stamp on Isaac Hayden last week at Huddersfield, it may be deemed to be a case of re-refereeing after the game which is not something the FA like to do.

The reason he will get a charge in the post is because the ref and linesmen did not see it at the time. The ref had turned to follow the ball had he seen it mitro would have been off. Its going to add more pressure to josulu /perez,gayle at a time when josulu could do without it. He ran himself into the ground for us and you could see how buzzing he was to score at home but late on he was spent.
We should not go back to gayle/perez up top it dont work as well as with a big lad with them. Perez was a much better player yesterday with the support he obviously needs alongside him.

i thought the ref was poor yesterday, a few challenges went flying ion, mainly from them but we put a few in too, and the ref aloud them to happen.

i also didn’t think it was that bad , i thought Mbemba getting kicked in the head last week was worse.

We will agree to disagree. I have had another look at it on motd and just my opinion he lifts his elbow to the man’s head. It’s an assault, but like I say that’s just my opinion.

Bambam. I had a clear view of it mate and he hit him for nowt. The ball was gone but mitro wasnt interested in the ball. I hope he does get away with it but he is guilty.
Kinda makes up for the ones we have not been given in our favour ie leugenes/mbemba/clark. Fingers crossed but moving on its something he has to control in the future he cant lose it like that the lad has talent we know that but he also has faults.

For once I agree, Its his forearm there’s no elbow or swing. To me he raised his arm to hold the player off and wasn’t even looking at him.

The closest to the incident was Bilic who had a clear view and never turned a hair cos he knows what a worm Manuel Lanzini is.
He probably sees enough of him in training.

If it’s true that the ref has adjudged the incident as accidental – then that is it – no further action will take place.

Finally have a real reason to be hungover. Great to see Matt Ritchie back to his best. Mbemba done well but tried to take on someone leaving us exposed which he seems to think is ok but is probably the reason he’s on the bench. Good squad player though. Mitrovic is Mitrovic. Great performance when he came on but lost his head a little. I don’t think it’s as bad as what some make out.

Again take you black and white goggles off.
    Mitro assaulted Lanzini
If it was the other way you would be saying
The west ham player should be banned.
He scored, big deal he is still pants and should be sold apart from him being a nut job

I would not be sorry to see the back of both Mitrovic and Shelvey, because the off the ball incidents that they get involved in bringing discredit to the club and make them a liability to the team on the field.

That’s how I see it but like I say that’s just my opinion, no need to lift his arm, ball was gone and his arms should be down by his side by then.

    Cheers mate
