The big problem Newcastle have in bringing new players to the club is the current wage bill, and there is now a concentrated effort in getting players out of the club before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday night.
Newcastle still have players like Grant Hanley. Tim Krul, Jack Colback, Achraf Lazaar, Sadio Haidara, and Henri Saivet to move out of the club as they are surplus to requirements.
It will be difficult for Rafa to add to the wage bill be bringing in other players until some of these players are moved out and time is getting short.
We assume that if we cannot sell Tim he will stay on at Newcastle and compete for the starting goalkeeper position and we will not bring in another goalkeeper this week.
Grant Hanley is in demand by both Norwich and Fulham, and he is expected to move out before Thursday.
Hull are interested in a loan move for Jack Colback, but Newcastle may still have to pay half of his massive £70K/week wages if he does go on loan.
There is also interest in Achraf Lazaar from Italy and Benevento are one of the clubs looking at signing the Moroccan left-back.
As far as players coming in is concerned – Chelsea have agreed to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a cool £40M.
So we assume Kenedy will now be allowed to go on loan to Newcastle for the season and we are still hoping for another striker to come in.
Leeds United are interested in replacing striker Chris Wood who was sold to Burnley for £15M with Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle.
But Rafa wants £18M from Leeds United for his striker and will sell only if he can replace the former Crystal Palace striker.
So while we were talking about getting four players in before Thursday, that’s looking a lot less likely unless we can sell some players quickly this week.
Comments welcome.

I agree, but unfortunately, due to the stupid rules of the window, a player can’t join a new club on a free unless he is released before the window shuts, and i suspect they’ll all want their contracts paid in full before agreeing to it, otherwise they’ll be happy in the u23s picking up their pay packet each week. We can only hope one or two have a little more honor and “come to a mutual agreement”.

Didnt they change that rule after the haidara/macbananab@stard incident. Trust nufc to fall foul of a rule that only exists after we got sh1t on by the old rule.

Then again the FA might choose to do nothing seeing as the ref saw the incident and thought nothing of it…
…have to say I think it’s much ado about nothing!

Comment #6Honestly where does Kenedy fit it?
I would really prefer we signed more players that would be regulars without a doubt

Comment #8Mark…personally I wouldn’t even use a players I didn’t register in the u23. If he has no future at the club then I would concentrate on players with a future…
…they are just taking up space and time from other young players!

Allegedly kenedy is a LB, but if Oxlade Chamberpot is his “replacement” then i am tempted to think he is a more attack orientated Left sided mf.
Makes me think of Gareth Bale…. he started as a LB and now is a left sided forward.

Im not sure on the rulings mate,i believed it was only if the ref had not seen an incident that the f.a could look at it again….so unless the ref said to bilic I didn’t see it and the f.a will look into it, i thought it was done….ffs.. the mbemba high foot that drew blood and the double footed stand on hayden were worse then that.

Comment #17I read that kenedy was an attacking midfielder/left winger has occasionally played up front and played left back a few times so its anyones guess where he’s being brought in to bolster…my guess would be midfield…and cover in case we dont get a left back in….but thats just my guess tbh.

Comment #18Mark . Send them as far away from the squads as we can imho. Dont want them hanging around with the bairns if they are being a problem. I understand not wanting a pay cut but as a footballer you have to want to play if your not willing to take the cut you shall train on your own so not to effect the players that do want to play.
Its harsh but if your making more per week wages than some get per year you find very little sympathy from me.

Comment #24The way it works is :-
The ref who originally thought the incident unworthy of censure has to look at the incident again on video and say either.

Understand Newcastle could offload striker Dwight Gayle before Thursday’s deadline – but only if they manage to line up a replacement.

Comment #28I thought at the time the ref did not see it but im sure he said afterwards he did.
Mitros gonna get a ban if the ref didnt see it.
Can they overturn it if he says he did see it but now after seeing the replay he got it wrong ?
Trail by motd has already found him guilty but if thats the case what about mbemba getting kung foo kicked to the noggin ?
Clarky getting stood on with 2 feet ? Why arnt charges brought over them ?

I can close my eyes and see him now
A wee elfin figure in a brown corduroy suit
He had a perm !
I’d never seen a man with a perm before !
That was 1966 – 8 years later everyone had perms (even Kevin Keegan )
He sang an acoustic set first half – Mr Tambourine man – Blowing in the wind etc
I was entranced he was so good
Second set Robby Robertson and the Band joined him
I was even more blown away

Comment #39I agree with Jib’s earlier comments regarding Rafa not realising how difficult it would be to move players out before bringing new ones in.
Fair enough mind if he’s been given control of all transfers in and out then with Charnley’s help he has to take responsibility and address the issue of getting rid of the players he doesn’t want to keep.
