Benitez Holds Transfer Meeting – Explains January Transfer Window Under New Owners

Additional funds will be available for Rafa Benitez in January if Newcastle are sold by then.

But nothing much will change for Newcastle in the transfer window other than we should (will) have the cash available for our first choices in each of the positions the manager wants to strengthen.

The Chronicle are reporting Rafa held a meeting on transfers with his coaching staff on Thursday last week.

Various targets were discussed during the meeting, and it appears that an attacking-midfielder, a striker, and left full-back are the positions Benitez want to strengthen at the beginning of next year.

Cenk Tosun – striker target?

This is what Rafa said when asked what his plans would be in January if we have a new owner by then – as reported in the Chronicle:

“First of all, you have to look for the best players in the market.”

“Afterwards you think of the second, third and fourth options – but not because you have a new owner or not.”

“You have to take into consideration a player might not want to sell or a club may not want to sell.”  “We are working on different names and different levels.”

“It is too early but we have been working hard. We will have the targets identified.”

“I was talking with Lee this morning, and anyway I was telling him I don’t need to know all the details because it won’t change anything for me on a daily basis.”

“The exact date I found out the club was for sale I don’t know, but it doesn’t change anything.”

“They told me they would announce something but it’s not a big issue.”

Rafa’s transfer plans all seem to be in place for January – whatever happens by then.

Shire, you need to wake Magspuggy up – make sure he’s not too drunk to drive again! Looks like there’ll be a lot of strange looking characters aboard the happy clappy bus, today – more than the usual bunch of misfits!
Looks like I’ll be riding a camel behind it – I keep missing it!
    Starting to get the hump!

Lucky bastids going to game. It’s so good to have decent coverage on sky now that we are back where we belong. Even if it means listening to tools like merson. Htl

    Hibbit

Ashley usually gets in the ground early and often comes down from his box and goes down to the tunnel.whether that be a ritual or to wish someone well I don’t, But he often does it abt an hr before kickoff.
    So we’ll find out then

Only our third 3pm Saturday KO, won previous 2!
From .com : ‘Newcastle will finally get to play an away game with a 3pm Saturday kick-off when they travel to Arsenal in December- at the ninth time of asking.’
Great for TV coverage, but a right slog for our away fans!

I’d love to see Merino play 10 and Perez dropped to the bench

I’s also love to see Mitro start…he would bully the sh!te out of that Palace defence.

Whatever forward Rafa goes with they will need service and most opposition teams now know the man to stop is Ritchie…UNLESS WE CHANGE THE SYSTEM.

With a blend of Merino further up the Park playing a deep 10 and Uncle fester moving the ball quickly from defence to attack will give us more options to put through the killer pass to either Joselu or Mitro.

I have no faith in Joselu whatsoever, Hughes was right to offload him and his level is the same as Gayle…championship at best.

    3-1 toon

There should be a great battle on the sidelines today. Benitez gesticulating, and Hodgson ranting and snarling should Palace leak a goal.
