After the 14th round of games in the Premier league over the last two days Newcastle’s great point at West Brom was enough to move us up two places in the league table to 12th place.
It was an important game for Newcastle to stop the rot as the four game losing streak was ended.
The bad news about the 2-2 draw at West Brom is that we left in another two goals – but the good news is that we scored 2 goals – even though one was an own goal.
Rafa Benitez – thumbs up
Our overall goal this season is to survive in the Premier League so every point is good and wins of course become vital – we need to start winning again at some point.
Newcastle are at Chelsea on Saturday but they only won 1-0 against Swansea last night at home even though they dominated the game.
We need to be very good in defense (for a change) and then you never know what might happen.
Arsenal hammered Huddersfield 5-0 at home and LIverpool hammered Stoke 3-0 away.
And Burnley won again – this time 2-1 at Bournemouth and they are now 6th with 25 points.
So results went our way last night with Swansea, Stoke, Bournemouth, Huddersfield Southampton, and West Ham all losing.
Here’s where we stand in the league at the moment.
[table “68” not found /]And here are the goals scored with a number of players tied on 2 goals scored.
[table “69” not found /]And to think Wayne Rooney got a great hat trick last night for Everton in their 4-0 win at home to woeful West Ham and new manager David Moyes.
He would be Newcastle’s top scorer if he played for us.

Comment #1Whilst I agree that Jib has a patchy record on political correctness, I also think Ed under the circumstances has moderated one of the busiest blogs going very well, and has put measures on certain miscreants when called for. So for me the attempt to flip contributors guilt onto Ed is equally as shameful as those comment people are getting upset about.
Did it not occur to you that peer reproof is a very effective way of keeping offensive individuals in check? Or do you prefer that you are nannied and nappy-changed by a mother moderator when someone is being horrid?
Grow up.
