We are 16th in the Premier League, and we are also 16th in the Premier League based on the number of current injuries we have.
Over the last few years, we were always at the top of the Premier League injury table, but that has all changed with Rafa coming to Newcastle doing several things to reduce the injuries.
One was to replace the old 3G technology turf for the artificial playing surfaces to 4G technology turf, and that seems to have helped in drastically curring the Newcastle injury list over the last two seasons.
Islam Slimani is now fit and so are Florian Lejeune and Jesus Gamez, so it seems that only Ciaran Clark is currently unavailable and we don’t know his status and Joselu was sick for last Sunday’s game.
We could find that out at tomorrow’s press conference.
Jesus Gamez – in training again
We should at least see new boys Kenedy and Isal Slimani start the game on Sunday at home to the Red Devils with Martin Dubravka a possibility to start in goal.
This is what Rafa said of the current injury situation:
“Gamez is getting better.” “I was talking to him and he says he feels better.”
“Lejuene has also been training with the team and that’s also good news.”
At least we don’t have 10 or more injuries which was a regular occurrence before Rafa came to the club.
The lack of injuries will help us in these last 12 crucial games that will determine Newcastle’s immediate future.

Comment #1Would be good to have a bit of depth again with players like lejeune back from injury, hopefully at a time when some of our fellow treadwaters are starting to feel the pinch of injuries on their less deep squads.
