Rabah Madjer is the Algerian National manager, and he seems pleased that Islam Slimani has moved on loan to Newcastle for the rest of the season.
Madjer has been speaking to the Record in Portugal, and he thinks it will be a good move for Slimani, Newcastle and even Algeria.
Madjer rates Slimani highly which is not surprising with the Algerian having scored 27 goals in 56 appearances for his country.
Islam Slimani – can make a difference at Newcastle
This is what Madjer has said about his number one striker:
“He’s a good striker and staying on the bench isn’t good for the head.”
“Slimani is excellent and will do very good things at Newcastle.” “He may be a talisman.”
“Rafa Benitez has a lot of experience and will be important on a psychological level.”
“Slimani will solve a big part of Newcastle’s problems.”
Slimani wanted to move to Newcastle immediately after he talked to manager Rafa Benitez, who will be a good bet to get the very best out of Slimani, who is a talented striker and good in the air.
The 29-year-old is certain to make his debut on Sunday against Manchester United at home, and we could see Newcastle with all three loan signings – Kenedy, Slimani, and Dubravka – start that game.
We must start to pick up points, and hopefully, more wins from our home games and Sunday would be a good time to start getting back to winning games at home.
We haven’t won a home league games since we beat Crystal Palace 1-0 back on October 21st.
That’s an abysmal record.

Comments welcome.
Personal note – two bits of good news this week – I had to have an MRI on the brain last Friday and it has come back clear.
And my son Neil is getting married today to his long-term sweetheart RuthAnn, a wonderful woman.

Comment #1Firstly, great news Ed. especially on the health front. Keep it coming.
Secondly, let’s not put too much expectation on Slimani in his early games. It’ll take a few before he starts banging them in.

Comment #16After lurking almost entirely for over five years, your news is better than hearing that Ashley has sold. Great news indeed!

Comment #17Excellent news on health front. I think we will have a good chance of three points on Sunday. The crowd will get behind the team especially because it is M.U. But also because we will have new blood in the team.
If we stay up, Ashley sells up and Rafa stays, so will many who may be resolving otherwise for next season.
