Rafa’s Program Notes – End Of Season Message – We Have To Be Proud

Rafa has written his piece for the program for today’s final Premier League game of the season – against 5th top Chelsea, who were last season’s Premier League Champions.

Rafa has taken the opportunity to thank everybody at the club and also he thanks every single Newcastle fan and mentions how good a job members of his team have done behind the scenes.

Rafa Benitez – Newcastle’s proud manager

Rafa thinks that everybody connected with the club should be proud of what the team has achieved this season when it looked in mid-December we would be fighting relegation right up to this final game of the season.

This is what Rafa has said:

“I don’t know anyone who thought at the beginning of this season that we could finish near the top 10.”

“If things worked out differently we could have been going into this fixture under pressure to avoid relegation.”

“Fortunately we aren’t and we have to realize how important this group of players’ efforts have been in last 10 months.”

“It is important for us to keep the good memories we have taken from this season.”

“It has been a great one from a very professional group of players and along with the staff, fans, city, everyone has come together to get behind us.”

“We have to be proud of that.”

“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank every single fan who has supported the team all the members of my staff – coaching and medical staff – and everyone who has worked so hard behind the scenes.”

“I’d also like to thank the players for their commitment and passion.”

What we need is for Newcastle to win this game against Chelsea and finish in the top half of the table.

That’s also a tough task – but you never know – not with Newcastle.

Howay The Lads!!!

Brighton, Bournemouth and Watford all losing so 11th is likely to be lowest we will finish.

Ah almost 2, Ritchie had a very good 1st half source of most of our chances.

We would have been out of sight had we a proper clinical striker.

Best half of the season. Amazing performance, even though Chelsea have been poor. We haven’t given them a sniff.

Give Rafa some money and get the 3/4 we need to take this team to the next level.

We may be punished for our poor finishing in the 2nd half once Chelsea shift gears. I still say we will lose 5 in a row to end our season.

    Newcastle 1 Chelsea 2.

Wow what a great half by us.

Even against 12 men again. Shoulda had at least one pen, so I suppose the don’t give NUFC a pen rule is still in force.

More of the same from us second half I hope.

Has Dubkravaka even touched the ball yet.

C’mon lads more goals please you deserve it, Courtoius has been their best player

    later.

Shelvey has 3 years left on his deal. No point messing around and letting it run down another year. Hand him a new 5 year deal and make him the club’s highest paid player. £120,000 a week would seem reasonable. Shelvey is the player to build the team around, I would fear for next season if we lost him.

Gayle must have a knock. Shame as he;s been lively today and looked confident after his goal.

Howay, Joselu – worst finisher I’ve seen in B&W, but please pull something out the bag and give us a goal to remember you for!

Great flicked shot from Giroud and Dubravka matched it after initially looking beaten. Dummett not his usual self recently, let that come in way too easily.
