There’s a report in the Portuguese newspaper A Bola that Newcastle are interested in signing Algerian winger Yacine Brahimi.
The 28-year-old Paris-born winger currently plays at Porto where he’s been for the last four years.
Newcastle were first interested in the winger back in 2014 when we had several reports out of the Magpies’ interest, but he finally ended up in Portugal.
He scored 12 goals in 47 total appearances for Porto last season as they won the Portuguese League finishing 7 points above second-placed Benfica.
Yacine Brahimi – Newcastle target?
That was the 28th time they have won the Primeira Liga.
Brahimi previously played for Rennes and Granada before signing on at Porto.
Brahimi has real speed and skill and would fit nicely into Rafa Benitez’ counter-attacking play he has employed at Newcastle.
Brahimi is said to have a release clause in his contract but what that is – we don’t know.
His five year deal at Porto runs out next summer, and that’s another reason Newcastle could be interested in this player and get a reasonable deal.
Everton and Wolves are two other Premier League clubs said to be interested in the speedy winger.
