Newcastle Make “Concrete Offer” For One Of The Best Teenagers In Germany

German newspaper Hamburger Morgenpost is reporting that Josha Vagnoman has received what is called ‘a concrete offer’ to join Newcastle United this summer.

The 17-year-old has been tracked recently by a number of top clubs in the Premier League including Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Chelsea.

The teenager moved to Hamburg from HSV back in 2010 when he was 9 years old, and he sees his future at Hamburg despite some offers starting to come in from some top English clubs – like Newcastle.

🙂

Josha Vagnoman has received a concrete offer to join Newcastle this summer.

Here’s is a piece taken directly from the Hamburger Morgenpost report:

“Newcastle United made a concrete offer, the English club have offered to pay him €5.3M euros for three years.”

“But Vagnoman trusts coach Titz and prefers to play in the second division instead of the Premier League.”

“He trusts to develop under Christian Titz and to take the next development step.”

So it doesn’t look like the teenager is keen to leave Hamburg.

Vagnoman is one of the best young players in Germany, and he’s the type of player Rafa, and the scouts at Newcastle are looking for.

He will not be cheap, but when Newcastle sign them as young players, they are a lot less expensive than they will be in three or four years time – assuming they develop as expected.

It’s ironic the youngster says he wants to develop under 47-year-old coach Christian Titz in Germany when Rafa is one of the world’s best managers in bringing out the very best in younger players.

It’s also something Rafa loves to do.

The youngster has been capped at Germany U17, and U18 level and great things are expected from the defender although he has yet to break into the Hamburg side having made one appearance so far.

It’s good news we are going after some top teenagers this summer and making bids for them.

Comments welcome.

betty – there appears nowt further anywhere about what happenend to Beardsley – just that he did make some remarks.
Suppose it’ll follow shortly what his “punishment” is.

Yes but it looks like they’re assuming he’s going be back at the club. Can’t see how that ‘s acceptable if he’s proven guilty.

If gayle had been injured and arma had been used in his place, would he of scored a similar amount of goals?…and as fans would we be looking at the lad in a different light… as maybe a good prospect instead of a possible failure by some….i know its all ifs, buts and maybes….the reason i ask is….most feel gayle is failure in this league, not good enough at this level for his age, but if arma had done something similar it myt be seen as some hope for the future, maybe not the striker we need now but good enough to be a squad member???…i for one would of liked to have seen him given the chance…could he of been much worse then joselu or gayle? … neither scored a lot…..excuse the long windedness of this comment by the way! Lol

betty – I’m focusing on the term “discriminatory remarks”.
Discriminatory remarks may not necessarily be “racial”. If that’s the thinking I see a slapped wrist coming up and possibly further complaints by those involved. But that’s speculation time date now.

Mr T. You know, I honestly have no idea. 🙂 I think it all depends on how talks go. If I had to hazard a guess I’d say we will finally break the long standing transfer record, purely because it’s so low and even average players cost that much now.
If he gets the proposed money, allegedly £50m plus sales, I can see a better window than last, but bear in mind I am the eternal optimist. 🙂
So much depends on what Rafa gets out of the knacka, so it’s difficult yet to decide which path he’ll take.
He appears to be clearing the decks so I expect some decent signing tbh.
Rumour being he wants five more first team players to either play or push for places. I also think he’ll bring in one or two for the academy. What I’m uncertain of is the quality of those signings because that depends on whether he intends to stay. It might be difficult to bring in good signings, if he can’t guarantee he’ll be here next season.

Springy, if you look at how he takes his chances then yes, I honestly think he would have double or trebled Gayle goals. He’s a natural finisher who takes his chances without too much thought – which is Gayle’s problem imo. I think he thinks too much instead of doing what comes naturally.
It was a big season for Gayle and he knew it, which may be why he struggled, if that makes sense?
Take Arma’s goal for England the other day. He didn’t even think, he just stuck it in the top corner. That’s what makes him such a natural goalscorer.
We’ll only truly know when he gets his chance.

Bobbybee – what we do certainly have at the moment (and it is a tangible asset) is the pulling power of Rafa.
Imagine being a young player or a player who has temporarily “lost his way” and suddenly you get a phone call – the called identifies himself as Rafa Benitez and says that he wants you to play for him. Most will jump at the chance.

Seems we probably then fail when we – Penfold- offers crap/unrealistic wages.

Got to pay the going rate – footballers live in a small world and know what their fellow professionals are earning.

Newcastle balking at €20M for Garry Rodrigues
    (what’s new?)
Galatasaray maintain they cannot drop the price
because he has a 17.5% sell on clause with his
former club PAOK Salonika which means they
will have only €16.5M to replace him and they
are in the CL next season.

From the Chronicle, when was this successful meeting?

The thing with Rodrigues is , Rafa clearly sees something
he has tracked him for ages.
However he has never been tested at the highest level
except for 18 months at Elche in Valencia where it looked
like he might stay (probably when Rafa was alerted)
then they got relegated from La Liga for tax evasion in 2015.

He’s very left sided so is probably plan “B” for Kenedy.

I can see why there is hesitation over a 20M price tag

    Jib,
It depends on who is balking at the asking price, is it Rafa or Barnes/Charnley/Ashley. You claimed that Ashley was right not to buy Caballero, where to you draw the line on who decides players values. A UEFA elite manager or a tat shop owner, lowest paid MD in the PL or some corporate lawyer or what ever Barnes is.

    Munster,
There was nothing low about it all. By all accounts he’s a lovely bloke that does all kinds for the community and charity. That’s got nothing at all do with his ability as a football manager which you have continually slated. You then try to justify your constant criticism by saying look what he done for some poor bloke with cancer. That’s pretty low.
I’m sorry to hear of your personal struggles with that awful disease but don’t go telling me I’ve been low when I haven’t and never intended to be.

Money has destroyed La Liga and Serie A by giving it all to the top teams.
John Henry at Liverpool and the Glazers at Man U have to be thwarted in
their bid to have the top six to be awarded a bigger cut of the PL riches

West Ham owners and Pelligrini are already in dispute over transfer policy and who’s responsible for decisions.

Everton need to offload 12 players.

Both presumably then think they can buy into survival and success higher up the league.

Couldn’t happen to two less deserving clubs.

“The new boss of ScotRail is being paid a £10,000 car allowance – despite taking the train to work every day.

“Alex Hynes, who took up the role last month, receives the bonus on top of his astonishing £255,000 basic salary.”

Nice work if you can get it.

Mr T from last night. Agree, our best asset is Rafa and yes, what could excite a young player more than getting a call from a great manager like Rafa. If I was learning my trade as a player I’d leap feet first into a chance to work with him.
But sadly, as you point out, we need to pay the going rate or they won’t come.
We can but hope Rafa gets his way and takes full control.

Don’t know much about the trains these days but obvious that the whole system and service is in free fall. Your man Alex Hynes describes himself thus. Perhaps one for the Trades Description Act. His own words. More bull than bully.

Excels at creating high-performing teams, raising standards of delivery and nurturing productive stakeholder relationships.”

It would be interesting if we bought James Maddison from Norwich as he was in that Coventry team with Armstrong and Jacob Murphy. The three of them worked very well together with Maddison pulling the strings, Murphy offering pure direct pace, and Armstrong scoring the goals. I agree we should keep Armstrong. If he gets 10-20 goals in the Championship he could suddenly be worth £20m plus.

Surely it’s more the case that Rafa says he wants this player or that player and the club make enquiries and in doing so figure out what it will cost, and then go back to Rafa and says this is the deal, and this will be the dent in the budget, do you still want him? At least I’d hope it is something like that.
