Fulham and Wolves are two Premier League clubs who are already interested in signing Newcastle’s Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
After scoring 12 goals for Fulham this year in just 20 appearances which allowed them to get promoted via the playoffs, Mitro scored a hat-trick for Serbia in their 5-1 win over Bolivia on Saturday.
Mitrovic is in red-hot scoring form and Newcastle will likely want to wait until after the World Cup has finished before letting Mitro leave Newcastle.
He was the striker who scored the vital goals for Serbia to help them qualify for the World Cup finals and he could have an excellent tournament in Russia.

The Mirror are reporting the Cottagers are preparing a bid to turn his loan deal into a permanent one.

There is a chance that manager Benitez could change his mind on Mitrovic and keep him for another season on Tyneside but it looks like he is willing to sell him for a good price.
Newcastle initially wanted £20M for the striker but that could have already gone up to £30M and maybe could be more if he has a good World Cup and other clubs join in the bidding.
Aleksander is a good player and is still a big favorite on Tyneside but his style of play just doesn’t seem to fit with how Rafa wants Newcastle to play.
That’s unfortunate because the 23-year-old has shown when he gets the chance and the team plays to his strengths he will always score goals.
If we can get £30M for Mitro then Rafa will be pleased enough.

Comment #1It’s a massive testament to the fans opinion of
Rafa that for all Mitro’s recent achievements
the criticism of the Spaniard over his handling
of the Serb is at a minimum.
Can you imagine if Pards or Schteve were dealing
with him in the same way ?

Comment #2Annoying thing is about our transfer policy, is that currently theres a couple players out there that will obviously go onto be 100m players, always a gamble, but occasionally you can see it as its so blatent, Luis Suarez was one a few years ago, Sadio Mane another…For me, Hirving Lozano, Amadou Haidara, Youri Tielemans, Denis Praet and maybe Ismaila Sarr are all going to go on to be worth triple what they would be available for this summer, and a club Newcastles size could easily take them but Ashley would never sign off on a deal of 25-30m for one player.

Comment #3I second that opinion of Hirving Lozano, what a player. We should have got him for 15 million.

Comment #5Arsenal are about to sign another who I think will go up in value a crazy amount in Lucas torreira. Only signing for around £22m because of a release clause.

Comment #6No way in the World Kluivert would have signed for us, when he could have the pick of Liverpool, Spurs and Roma. Besides, I’m not sure if his Dad has very happy memories of being here. Lozano is looking for a big World Cup to attract big offers from the biggest clubs. Again, how do you persuade him to sign for NUFC ahead of the tournament kicking off?
Instead of these players, we should be seeing who the big clubs that sign them are prepared to offload to make space for them. After all, these players were the next big thing once…..

Comment #7Don’t do it Rafa. Mitro has found his feet and will go on from this in the premiership. He just needed to fit into a team and get the chance he craved.

Comment #8Sick of mitro talk.. hes lethal against lesser standard players.. goals against China, Bolivia..christ we’ll all be going mad when he nets 5 against the falklands islands or an Arctic ix… Hes done very very little in a newcastle shirt to warrant some of the adulation and you’ll find a fair few goals he has got haven’t been game deciding goals when the pressures been up (unlike someone like Ritchie)
If we get 20m+ for him il gladly see him on his way to be honest

Comment #9The support for Rafa in his treatment of Mitro does stand out! However, apart from his posturing on the field, he hasn’t done anything at the top level, and I include internationals against poor teams. I think most fans accept this! Dwight Gayle was mor lethal in the championship and struggled in the Prem.

Comment #10i seem to remember a xertain Malcolm Macdonald scoring 5 against Cyprus and n-one thought then that he wasnt top quality.
All Mitro needs is an etebded run in a team wgich supplies him regularly with his chances.

Comment #11Hmm well if goals against decent foreign teams is what we want me might have to wait given that we only have a small budget.
