More Big Bids Come In For Newcastle Players

News today that Stoke’s new boss Gary Rowett has made an offer of £10M for 27-year-old Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle.

There was news earlier this week that Rowlett rated Gayle and the Newcastle striker has already proved he can score goals in the Championship.

He scored 23 goals in just 34 appearances for Newcastle the season before last.

Dwight Gayle – £10M offer from Stoke City

It is looking like Rafa will let the striker move on, but the manager would probably like to get up to £15M for the player who scored  6 goals last season in the Premier League for Newcastle.

Stoke have just signed striker Benik Afobe from Wolves on a six-month loan with an option to buy.

Rowlett is looking for a strike partner for the DR Congo International – and Gayle is the preferred target.

With the first bid being what Newcastle paid for Gayle two years ago from Crystal Palace, the odds are that Rafa will allow him to leave.

But more Championship clubs could also want the 27-year-old Newcastle striker this summer.

Newcastle are also said to be close to transferring Chancel Mbemba to Porto for around £8M but no fee has yet been agreed although news from Portugal today is the deal is close to completing.

If we can sell Mbemba and Gayle for £18M and Aleksandar Mitrovic for £20M later this summer, then Rafa will have another £38M to spend this summer.

The Chronicle is reporting Rafa will be given about £40M in cash to spend and some other outlets such as the Telegraph are saying it’s £50M.

That’s in addition to funds for transferring players out of the club – which could amount to more than £40M.

So Rafa could have close to £90M to spend this summer if he can sell some of his more expensive players like Mbemba, Gayle, and Mitrovic.

What do you think?

    Peru 0 Denmark 4
    Croatia 2 Nigeria 1”

Jane predicted a France win and Argentina/Iceland draw. 4-0 to Denmark surely not?!

You’re sticking your neck out bonny lad but I for one understand that your optimistic hope for Ashley’s exit’s based on nowt more than that

If Ashley does decamp to Florida he’d be in good company. He’d be at home in Trump’s company exchanging tales of how they’ve each taken the piss out of and screwed millions out of ordinary folk.

Just picture the pair if them – Trump uttering his bile and Ashley emptying his beer-bloated belly all over him.

As far as the alligators are concerned, I suspect even they wouldn’t go anywhere near him – they’re choosy what they eat!

    “What do you think?”.

I think you are totally ignoring reality. We all know Ashley sells on the drip – so Rafa will not have access to all the funds from any sales. He’ll be lucky to get 20% for this season of anyone who leaves.

If you’re so clever at predicting results I wonder why you haven’t won the lottery. Just think, if you won a few million, you’d be welcomed by your hero, Ashley.

I can’t see Rafa letting Gayle and/ or Mitro go unless he’s got a replacement(s) in or at the very least, Ashley nailed to the floor until he signs off as soon as deals are firmed up.

Won’t Get Fooled Again comes to mind but it means nothing where Ashley’s concerned – he cares less about doing the right thing by people or keeping promises.

It hasn’t taken long for the takeover talk to take off.

Bishop knows such speculation keeps fans’ minds off more pressing matters like reinforcing the squad and getting Rafa signed up.

Lesh you’re right but it’s in our nature to speculate on a quiet news day. We all live on hopes and dreams when it comes to nufc and while success doesn’t necessarily require Ashley to sell, his departure would potentially make the road somewhat clearer.

It was an interesting article in the chronicle which started it off today. Not complimentary to Ashley so not sure it could be ascribed to Bishop but who knows.

I’m still very suspicious of this silence.

Is it possible to make agreements to sign and sell players and have them effectively removed from the market whilst a club’s accounts are frozen? If so we could be in for a very exciting time when the brakes are removed

RobLeenio, I think the Chronic article is cleverly written as purely an exercise to flush Ashley out.

Shit or get off the pot so to speak.

Ashley wants to see the colour of the money, or, more likely, to know who the potential buyers are – hence he can rip them off, any potential buyer will not do this in the public eye (Curry House meetings etc.), so I’m of the belief that it’ll happen overnight and we won’t know a thing about it until it does – which is the right way.

However, I still stand by my previous thoughts. 😉

Talk of an innovative idea to extend the east stand at StJames’s Park has me thinking of an idea I had and published on here .

I said it could go up on Hydraulics on a match day…you could quite easily add another tier the full length of the east stand and not have any light issues for the transient residents over the road.

Iv never read anywhere about the facility of a stand on Hydraulics.. Just my imagination ..colourful eh ? . You heard it here first though.

Other than that a glass palace that reflects light at 4x the intensity so the residents are not in the shade year round could also be built. The science exists.

    What think ?

Whatever money we get to spend, here’s hoping Rafa has just watched that Danish striker Jorgensen. Terrible control, total lack of quality. Not what we need to replace Joselu, Mitrovic and Gayle.

Jorgensen certainly didn’t show himself in the best light. The comparisons to Joselu are justified. No better on that evidence. However Joselu has had the opportunity to work with rafa and Jorgensen hasn’t, so there could be a lot of improvement in him but there would need to be.

Jail when I said I thought Rafa was foolish to go for Jorgie ages ago u said I was slagging Rafa off. I rest my case. Rafa is well capable of buying dross and quality and he needs to be ultra careful. At 5mill we might as well keep Joselu. He might even improve next season

That was Carrilo, we were Linked with him before…can be really dangerous, Jorgensen is worse than Mitro, for that amount not…we need to give big Serb chance, I have a feeling, that Rafa will give him a chance, but everything will depend on which players He can bring, if He can bring good midfield and wingers than Mitro would suit to This team, he needs balls to the box and He will always score…
