Exclusive: Impressive Young Forward Keen To Join Newcastle

A number of the transfer stories involving Newcastle over the last week or two have fallen flat on their face.

Let’s hope this one will be successful.

Newcastle are reported to be leading the race to sign highly-rated 20-year-old Lyon forward Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to an exclusive in TEAMtalk.

He spent last season on loan at Le Havre where he scored an impressive 19 goals in 37 total appearances for the Ligue 2 club.

The 6ft 4ins tall winger made his debut for Lyon back in September 2016 against Montpellier, after he was signed from Ligue 2 club Chateauroux the previous summer.

While at Chateauroux  he scored 11 goals in 21 games.

And the youngster is attracting the attention of several other Premier League clubs – such as West Ham, Leicester, and Everton.

20-year-old Lyon forward Jean-Philippe Mateta

He has played 3 times for the France U19 side and scored one goal.

Here’s a short piece from the Teamtalk exclusive:

“Mateta is understood to be keen on making the move (to Newcastle), and Newcastle are keen, but as are a number of rivals – with the likes of West Ham, Leicester and Everton also expressing an interest.”

These are the types of impressive young players Rafa wants to bring to Newcastle so they can eventually become first team players.

But Rafa will probably have Jean-Philippe in the first team squad for next season.

Let’s hope we can sign this talented player who turns 21 next week.

Comments welcome.

The kids keen on coming and the club want to bring him here the only real question is how does Ashley feel about it.

We’re in for an evening of watching Henderson pass the ball sideways and backwards

If the lad wants to come here then there can only be one obstacle stopping him. Lets hope he does the right thing and backs Rafa.

Why on earth are people even listening to these transfer stories? Last summer we were linked with 300 players. Obviously 99% were nonsense. This summer is no different.
There’ll be no movement until July when the first money goes into the coffers, so is it likely Rafa will show his hand before that? Give him some credit. You don’t invite a bidding war like that. He’s experienced, trust him before these idiot reporters who have papers to sell.
Otherwise what happens is meltdowns, when players he doesn’t want go elsewhere. And in most of the cases thank god they do.
Chances are we’ll only know who he wants when he says so and I haven’t heard him confirm one of these transfers, except Kenedy.
If he’s got £20m to spend on one player, Kenedy will be first in line.
It’s all paper talk and you should know that by now.
Anyway, kick off. Enjoy the game.

    1-0 Kane
But what a cringe worthy pile up of a celebration – there’s 80 minutes still to go , think we could be more professional

I just knew that the World Cup would highlight players we can target for our transfers.
Ashley sanctions bids for Ali, Kane and Lingard.
Report that Daily Mirror, I dare you

Tunisian right back Dylan Bronn looks a cracking player..he was the one who crossed for there goal too..sign him up Rafa..will be a good backup for yedlin.Looks cheap at 3.5 M.
Btw shelvey over Henderson and more than that Lascells over walker/Maguire any day. Shying away from brave decisions is gonna cost Southgate big time.

Why if Delle Ali is injured is he not getting subbed, he’s played 10 to 15 minutes since the injury become apparent.

Jeez, remind me why there are no british referees there. This guy is hopeless.

We should be whupping these guys, which is great because we’re playing well, but it’s been frustrating as hell

Mcguire. Where was he running when he dashed out? Left us wide open. Then those passes to nobody. Unbelievable that he gets in ahead of Lascelles. Not like we weren’t aware of his shortcomings from this season. Remember the ball he let bounce for Perez to score? Just one example.
We can play as well as we like but if you’re going to give the ball away in dangerous places and not take your chances it’s wasted.
Lingard could’ve had a hattrick on another day.

This is exactly why we needed Shelvey or Wilshire. A plan B. We haven’t got one. Any change we make will only be an alternate Plan A. Even my Mrs just said ‘what happens when they suss out your plan?’ and she doesn’t like football. Too late now but it wasn’t just us saying it, every pundit in the country was.

I expected more from Lingard and Alli, no creativity at all. Henderson hss tried to knock the ball forward but could do with another for greater creativity.

The better team won but they are tough team to beat, be interesting to see how Belgium play against them.

No doubt about it though, in my mind that, Shelvey and Lascelles would have improved the team.

Where was the midfield playmaker? Oh, I forgot we didn’t take any! They’re all forwards or defenders. That Southgate’s useless!
