On hearing of the sad news about Jose Enrique this morning Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to give the Spanish left-back some encouragement for his battle that lies ahead and will give him a real lift.
Jose has been operated on for a brain tumor which was removed in a 9-hour operation in Spain last week.
Word of encouragement have also been flooding in from Liverpool fans for a player who was always popular.
Jose helped us to come straight back up from the Championship back in 2010 after we were relegated from the Premier League the year before.
He left the club when he lost faith in Mike Ashley and signed on at Liverpool for about £7M in 2011.
Our thoughts, prayers and very best wishes go out to Jose and his family and we’re sure he will fight this disease with everything he’s got.
Best wishes Jose!

Get well soon Jose Enrique, promoted with us in 2010, one of my favourite players growing up through high school #NUFC

Hopefully Jose Enrique fully recovers. One of the best left backs I’ve seen at #nufc

Just heard the sad news about Jose Enrique, formerly of #nufc and #LFC being diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. Get well soon, Jose.

Young attacker Jean-Philippe Mateta will leave Lyon today to join Mainz in a €10m deal, according to President Aulas in an interview with BeIN Sports.
We were supposedly very interested in him the other day.

Comment #11Hope valon berisha comes to us, he’s pretty much came out with a ‘come and get me’ plea. When it comes to signing players we are poor, but when it comes to monitoring the hell out of players, we are the best!!

I was reading BBC today and it said Belgium aren’t assured of qualifying today, it depends on the England Panama result, can you win twice and still go out?

Comment #15Aye, if we got beat of Panama and then we beat Belgium and Panama beat Tunisia, there’s three teams with six points, you’d be pretty unlucky to win two out of three games and get knocked out while in another group three draws might see you through.

It would be nice to top the group but considering we could play any of the four teams in the other group is there any advantage of winning it other than confidence, I’d be more than happy with a draw against Belgium, we might smack Panama for six anyhow.

Comment #20Following Jib’s assertion about Championship teams better than Serbia or Switzerland I think if he had said our top 6 Premiership teams then he might have had a point (assuming players could play for both teams)

Comment #21If England win, Belgium are through. If Panama wins then defeats Belgium in the 2nd game, and England defeats S Korea by a large enough scoreline, The Belgians will be out.

Resting players makes sense for the last 16, But what if we get spanked 3..4-0 against the Belgians for doing so ??
A bigger dilemma for me mate is what do ya do with Raheem sterling ??

Comment #25Kim Jong Un has ordered all anti-American proganda posters be taken down in N Korea.
You don’t think that’s because he wants to be friends with benefits with their latest new American resident Mikey Ashley-Un do you ?
Maybe we’ll get some aspiring N. Korean footballers in return, hope they’re better than some of the Might Score-One players we’re linked with in the transfer market.

Comment #26If Mexico win their next game and Germany end up 2nd, I want us to come 2nd in our group. Much much easier route to final.
I think Tunisia showed the Belgian defence aren’t great. That guy lost both defenders far too easily for the last goal.

Comment #33Does it not make you stop for a moment and actually ponder how things changed in one morning for Enrique, and how that could be YOU tomorrow?
The day before he was a reasonably fit and young fella with a fledgling second career ahead of him and then he wakes up to find that his plans were immaterial, and his life was not at all under his control. It’s a horrible place to be cornered in, as some on here can attest to, not least the Blogmaster-General. Sobering indeed.
