Report – Rafa Interested In £14M Rated 25-Year-Old Japan International Striker

The Mirror is reporting on their live blog today (reporter David Anderson) that Newcastle are interested in signing one of Japan’s World Cup squad.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez returned to Newcastle yesterday for a vitally important meeting on transfers at St. James’ Park.

The Newcastle manager is said to be interested in 25-year-old striker Yoshinori Muto.

Muto has been playing for Mainz in the Bundesliga for the last three seasons, and in that time he’s played 72 times with 23 goals and 11 assists for the German club.

Before that, he was at his hometown club FC Tokyo where he played 61 games with 26 goals and 5 assists over a couple of seasons.

25-year-old Mainz striker Yoshinori Muto

Muto stands about 5ft 10ins tall and is said to be valued at around £14M by his German club, and that’s a fee Newcastle should be able to afford for a striker we desperately need for next season.

Rafa has restricted funds once again this summer – at least until we sell some players like Aleksandar Mitrovic, Mat Sels and Chancel Mbemba – who could bring some money into Newcastle’s coffers.

But we’d still be surprised if Newcastle pay £20M or more for any one player this summer since Rafa wants at least six new players brought into the Newcastle squad this summer.

If Rafa Benitez rates the player, then that’s fine and Muto’s stats in Germany, which is a physical league like the Premier League, look reasonable.

Muto has yet to play for Japan in these World Cup Finals in Russia.

Comments welcome.

There’s an equal chance they’ll get caught on the break though. One can but hope anyway! 🙂
We’ve fans, from all over in here, do we have any German ones?

If the Koreans could finish as well as they have been defending they’d be a couple of goals up by now.

You just need to take a glance on newsnow to realise nobody has a clue who we’re in for. The list just grows and grows like the Lambton worm. 🙂

Ah, well, we missed out on the Argies getting knocked out, but this is surely sweeter and they’re in our half of the draw.

If Serbia beat Brazil tonight England might actually have a chance to win this. Still fancy Belgium with their squad but anything can happen.
And just because I dislike Southgate doesn’t mean I don’t want us to be win it. It just means I don’t like Southgate. That shouldn’t be too difficult to grasp.

Yup, for sure. Hated him for that headbutt, showed us right up. That dance was arguably worse. It’s no wonder we went from the nation’s second team to the nation’s laughing stock with that tool in charge.

I like Southgate, but hold it against him that he refused to take the one englishman who has been able to pass a football in decades. at least hodgson etc had the excuse that they had no other options in midfield. shelveys passing would have been extra important in the heat.

Sweden are looking really good. I’d love to sign that Forsberg who has been linked with us before. No idea how much he’d cost. The number 9 Berg looks good too – could be cheap as he’s playing in middle east and 31.

He’s too old for us Willo. And he will be overpriced because of the world cup. We won’t touch him. We need a very good, youngish centre forward with fantastic pace, an incredible goal sense and tremendous agility for under 50 quid. Please submit your list of possibles to Lee Chutney…

There is no harm in Rafa signing a long term contract extension that has plenty of ‘get out’ clauses. If MA does not fulfill certain promises Rafa walks whilst potential transfers are more likel to sign knowing the managers future has been potentially secured. Hopefully an announcement will be the first step on the road to NUFC progress because we sure as hell need some.

So just to summarize. With training camp a few days away we have: sold nobody of note (the Merino deal is nearly done but only because his sell-on clause was triggered), bought nobody, and not signed our brilliant manager to a contract extension. Is that about it? Hmmmm.

Well said Lindis but why hasn’t it already been done? It means that Ashley wants to give Rafa no power in transfers to me. It means nothing has changed. And why would it? Ashley is a pinhead with no clue. How Rafa isn’t gone already is beyond me. Almost any club would be a better choice for him (excepting Sunderland and other such lower division fluff of course). I’m praying things turn around but it just looks frighteningly similar to previous years with Mr. Thickee in charge.

I was, and am forever optimistic about the Toon, only because of Rafa but by god this administration really do push us to the limit. Why can’t we just have a regular update from Charnley, even if it’s just to say “there’s no news”? The silence is killing us and we here of other clubs making bids for players!
So depressing after a great end to last season!

We go throught this agony every week. It just beggars beolief. Are we going to wait for the World Cup to end to buy some of the top performers? Is that it? So we’re just waiting with our huge transfer wad bulging our pockets? I knew it! Hahaha. Beautiful he says while rubbing his hands together gleefully!!!
