There’s news coming out of Turkey today via Haberturk that Fenerbahce are keen to sign Matz Sels from Newcastle.
The Turkish giants want to sign a new goalkeeper this summer to challenge their current veteran goalkeeper and captain Volkan Demirel.
Volkan is 37-year-old and will sign a new deal this summer to stay another year with Fenerbahce.
Demirel has been at Fenerbahce since 2002 and has played 490 times for the club and 63 times for Turkey.
Matz wouldn’t be too happy to sign on for the Turkish giants and then spend time on the bench but there’s an opportunity for him here too.

Sels was close to signing on at Anderlecht but the deal fell through a couple of weeks back when the Belgium club wouldn’t pay the £2.25M fee Newcastle wanted.
Matz has no future at Newcastle after Rafa brought him in for about £5M from Gent two years ago and it’s important for him to link up with some club this summer.
Comments welcome.

For your general disdain of others knowledge .
Correction
If you check
My disdain isn’t general , it’s specifically directed at certain posters.

The more I think about tis signing
the more I am in awe of Rafa.
You can just imagine him looking
at old vids of Jonjo at Swansea to
see if there’s anything in his game
that’s been missed and could help
NUFC.
Then
on encountering his partnership with
the Korean at the Liberty working
towards bringing them back together

I mentioned the Shelvey link up on Friday when the news broke – Wonder if RAFA had a few words with Shelvey on his thoughts on Ki.
Looks a very god addition to the squad and looks like a player who never throws the towel in unlike some we have had in the past.

I thought the Eric Clapton documentary was excellent; what did you think?

The essential thing for a documentary is to tell
you something you hadn’t known before
Life in 12 bars does that in spades
It wasn’t the first time I’d seen it
Ron Knee kindly posted a Youtube link to
it a few months back.
Another sign of a good documentary is if you can watch
it many times which I have with this and each time taken
on board something new.

I found it fascinating having followed Clapton since his Yardbird days and always thinking he was a totally selfish person, but as with all of us his childhood unhappiness moulded him. His addictions were a product of this but it was great to see him find happiness eventually.
