Report – Rafa Wants Premier League Striker At Newcastle

The Mirror are reporting today that Newcastle are interested in 25-year-old Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

Two Premier League clubs are mentioned – with Crystal Palace the other club interested in signing the former Bournemouth and Burnley striker.

The other good news for Newcastle is that Liverpool will allow Ings to leave and will ask only a reasonable fee for the player who has shown great character and spirit at Anfield over the last three years.

The fee has been quoted as only £9M and Ings is anxious to leave for first team football next season.

Danny Ings – in action for Liverpool

Danny has been unlucky on Merseyside and suffered two serious knee injuries which have kept him out of the game for long stretches.

And Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has often praised the player for his character and fortitude at the club so he would fit right in at Newcastle under Rafa Benitez.

And we have been linked with Ings constantly since Rafa joined Newcastle over two years ago.

Klopp did play the 25-year-old this year as a sub and the striker played 14 games with one goal.

Before those games, he had played only 11 games with 3 goals at Anfield because of his severe injuries.

We have always thought Danny would be an excellent buy for Newcastle – especially for £9M.

In his career Ings has played 197 first team games with 60 goals and 19 assists.

At Liverpool, over three seasons he played 25 times with 4 goals and a single assist.

What do you think?

If Ings is our saving grace then Rafa better buy another forward as well for when Ings in the treatment room…

    …just not another Joselu!

I don’t think this guy has either the touch pace or power to lead the line for us?

I’d take Ings too, upgrade on what we have right now and still young (and home grown)

On Toure, I think this signing was complete in May, him arriving in newcastle is him about to report for training.

Most likely destination for Ings would be Champions League club Celtic.

If you compare Ings with what we’ve had over the recent seasons, it’ll be like signing Aguero!

If we believe ryder, like me Rafa wanted rondon :). Sadly 16m was too much because of ‘spiralling costs’. A worrying sign. Rafa must be thrilled with KSY so he can keep his limited fund untouched. Does it mean that £15m+ players are beyond us?

Point me in the direction of the Newspaper that broke the Ki transfer story early last week and I might take an interest in what that paper has to say re transfers otherwise it is the same old conjecture, agents leaking for their own agenda’s and rehashing old stories.

I am surprised how many seem to take these stories seriously when a quick look at Rafa’s buys will tell you most are below the radar and that has also been the Club’s method.

On Ings I can’t help but recall Man U helping out Alan Smith and letting him come to us for reasonable fee they are always helping – Obertan was another. “Big” clubs look after themselves first.

This story has been recycled by The Mirror more times than the Rafa to join West Ham guff.

Ings isn’t going to be the one that breaks the transfer record and isn’t heading to SJP , Stoke might be more likely.

    The players I’d bring in

    -Ings or Carroll
    -Gabiadinni or Josh king
-Loftus cheek (on loan as I don’t see them selling him).

Did you speak to Troy Townsend at his Aunt Shenekas funeral?

Now you’re talking and Ritchie and Perez rotating in the number 10 role.
    Does that work ?

A bit of trivia here which I don’t think van be googled for answers. NUFC.com list the 50 different nationalities that have played for us. I’ll start with the two Jamaicans. John Barnes and Rolando Aarons, the Burundi was Bigriama, absolutely no idea who the Kosovan was and Nicky pot of Vaseline was the Cypriot (I think)

All our past and present players are “only one” nationality….. Geordie!

Jail, I believe Shefi Kuqi was actually Kosovan, but opted to play for Finland.
