Negotiations For Kenedy Are At An Advanced Stage

The Chronicle are reporting today that Newcastle’s talks with Chelsea for Kenedy are at an “advanced stage.”

And it does seem that Newcastle have moved into another (much higher) gear to sign their transfer targets now that Rafa has returned.

Preseason training also starts today, and the World Cup has entered into the knockout stages, so some players are now available to be signed.

The Sun (Alan Nixon) are reporting that Newcastle are keen to bring Kenedy into the club but also former winger Andros Townsend.

Kenedy – would be a tremendous signing for Newcastle

It seems Andros will only come if Matt Ritchie moves on with Stoke and his former club Bournemouth interested in the player at around £15M.

Kenedy has always been a key target for the Magpies this summer, and it will be interesting to see what kind of deal we can get for him.

A permanent deal now would be the best although Rafa may try to get a loan for the season with an option to buy.

That doesn’t seem too risky because if Kenedy plays like he did earlier this year, then Newcastle will want to take up the option to buy as soon as possible.

That’s when we can also afford to pay the fee, but the lad himself seems to love it at Newcastle.

The Northern Echo report that Newcastle have already held a number of meetings with Chelsea on Kenedy and have been told he is available.

Rafa is obviously vital in these negotiations since he has many contacts at Chelsea after winning the Europa League for them when he was a caretaker manager for them in 2013.

Signing Kenedy could even happen even with the uncertainty surrounding manager Antonio Conte although their new manager Maurizio Sarri is likely to be announced this week.

As far as finances are concerned a loan move with an option to buy would be best for Newcastle,  but if we can sign him for the season by any means possible – it’s a great signing for Newcastle.

He will be welcomed back to Newcastle as a returning hero.

Comments welcome.

Ritchie signed for NUFC on July 1st 2016 for £12M
The same day Townsend signed for CP and we received £13M
It’s clear that the groundwork was done in June 2016 to find a
    replacement for AT – Ritchie.
If Rafa always considered MR to be just a surrogate for AT and
then AT becomes available once more , the releasing of Ritchie
    makes perfect sense.

Poker faces at the ready. Rafa won’t sign until he gets assurances about money, Ashley won’t give him money until he signs. Long drawn out transfer window with little product at the end, same old, same old. I hope I’m wrong but like many folk before me have said until they’ve signed and are holding up the shirt these stories are all drivel. It’s the same every season.

Personally I’d like to see Ritchie kept and get rid of Atsu, Murphy can play LW as well.

I see a few have pointed out that the KSY signing has pointed out that the media haven’t a clue who we are really chasing. Equally this signing could point out that we are, yet again, only interested in bargain basement players.

The absence of ki and mitro will be as they’re resting after the World Cup

Can’t believe we’d let Ritchie go, his work rate is infectious. Townsend absolutely does not graft for the team – in fact the first few games he was here he strolled back when his man was running away with the ball he’d just lost. Ritchie might not be as eye-catching on a purely attacking basis but I know who I’d rather have it the team. I’m sure Rafa knows what he’s doing more than me though!

Jail the problem is that Atsu would not command a high enough transfer fee to, if the rumours are to be believed, allow us to move for Kenedy / Townsend.

    If Kenedy doesn’t arrive
this guy could be given his chance by Rafa.
Fernandez is 20 now and should be kicking on

If these rumours are true about Townsend wanting Ritchie gone before he will move back to SJP, Then what does that really say about loyalty to decent players at NUFC that want to stay and perform as Ritchie does nearly every game ! Supposing Townsend gets his way and we get rid of Ritchie then Townsend turns the heads of other so called bigger clubs next window, Then what ? I think he would drop NUFC at the drop of a hat AGAIN . Bringing players in that demand that other players must go is bollocks.
Matt Ritchie any day over Townsend for me !

And now the chronicle is reporting that Chelsea want £30 million, so that’s a no go then.

Geordie John, I don’t think it’s a case of Townsend demanding Ritchie goes more a case of we can only go for him if we get a fee close enough to the fee Palace want.

So negotiations to sign Kenedy are at an advanced stage.

Does that mean Penfold has had a couple of thoughts about phoning Chelsea before making another cup of tea?

I did read the article above before I made my comment. Did you ?
