Newcastle Linked With Bundesliga And World Cup Star

Calciomercato are reporting that Newcastle are interested in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Yussuf Poulsen.

The 24-year-old played well for Denmark in the World Cup, but they were finally eliminated by Croatia losing 3-2 on penalties after a terrific 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Other clubs who are reported to be interested in the 31 times capped Dane (5 goals) are West Ham and Everton – two clubs who seem to be linked with a player whenever Newcastle are.

Newcastle interested in 24-year-old RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Yussuf  Poulsen

The 6ft 4in tall forward is an excellent technical player, and he could be a target for Newcastle – but it depends how far down Rafa’s list he is.

He’s a versatile player – something Rafa likes in players and he has been at Leipzig since 2013 when he joined Leipzig from Danish club Lyngby BK.

He has played 174 times for the Bundesliga club with 39 goals and 29 assists, and he has the physicality to do well in the Premier League.

He is not a prolific goalscorer, however, and Rafa needs to bring in at least one of those players this summer.

But he has the experience to improve the Newcastle squad, and he’s still young at 24.

But Newcastle will have lots of targets this summer, and we’ll have to see if there’s real interest from Newcastle.

If there is then a move could be made soon since his World Cup exploits are over, and he did look a very decent player for Denmark.

But how much would he cost?

Comments welcome.

£27m? Don’t worry, Charnley’ll know where to stop bidding to ensure we don’t sign anyone of note.

Isn’t today the last day for ST renewals? Not that that’s got anything to do with these supposed attempts to sign name players.

you could help boost the ticket sales

Feed the blog some shit about the club being definitely
certainly, surely, for sure, unquestionably, without/beyond doubt,
    being sold

I sense peoples’ nerves are a little strained. We should all bear that in mind when addressing each other directly.

Plea should be an upgrade on Gayle, but at 27m we have to be aware that if he struggles we won’t be to get rid of him. if he’d had a few good seasons wed maybe get 15m for him, but as hes not done all that well in his career and will be on big wages we will be lucky to get 7m for him if he is another riviere…. poulsen seems a better bet than jorgensen. both red bull teams have an excellent record for finding players. maybe we should hire their sporting director ralf rangrick. our best and only bet of finding a top class attacker is through youths.

geordietom from previous – Sky are reporting we’re in talks to sign Plea. It doesn’t mention whether those talks are with the player (in which case we’ve had a bid accepted) or with the club (we’re therefore some way off still).

This is a very important distinction, which you would think they would make if they had much of a clue about anything at all.

We never knew anything about Ki-Sung signing nor did the press so I won’t believe anything ‘these days’ until it’s officially announced

I don’t believe anything sky have to say. They have been practicing a lot of unethical moves these past few years, linking players to clubs when they likely know it won’t happen. This won’t stop sky bet making attractive odds to customers to then find they’ve lost their money. Then there is the whole, sky, mike Ashley, Keith bishop connection.

I really like this poulsen. He was available for pennies a couple season back. Not a prolific scorer but big, strong, very hard worker and great movement. Often overlooked at Leipzig but allows Werner. Keira etc to shine.

i agree with you … theres a difference it does not say at a advanced stage m8 … west ham have supposed to have put a bid in of £30 million for him… any way with our track record we dont have much luck with french players apart from cabaye i’d have him back as he’s on a free now he knows his way around the premier league for starters worth punt … but his wages ect will be to much … any we know nowt whats going on we are all in the dark … we can all speculate … i would love the club to announce our biggest signing which is … senor benitez

    Latest from Sky on Plea

“We’re told Newcastle have already had one bid rejected but remain interested in the player.”

    Hardly ‘in talks’ is it?

On the subject of strange things afoot, why was Ki Sung-yueng never photographed with Rafa (or Charnley for that matter), all seems very strange that a new first team player hasn’t been photographed with the Manager/Chairman – or did i miss those pics?

The melodrama that is NUFC, is turning into mystery.

It’s not a case of ‘who did it?’ but more about ‘where is everyone?’

Ashley has gone AWOL, yet again, he’s supposedly in the USA, he may well be, but it extremely irresponsible for the owner to be absent at such a critical time. (no surprise there!)

Where is Rafa? There was no news throughout the Summer regarding his whereabouts, no tweets, no sightings, loads of speculation (predictably) Rafa is well known personality, it’s surprising that he not been seen anywhere, over the last 6/7 weeks, until he turned up at SJP last week out of the blue!

Rafa’s visit didn’t appear to be a measured PR stunt, only the usual small group of young fans were there. The visit almost coincided with the press release confirming the signing of KiSY, and the viewing of the new home kit! Such events usually fanfare occasions, not this time, especially with ST sales coming to an end.

So many questions. Who signed KiSY,and where is he now? Where is Rafa? When does the first team squad return?

I may have missed a critical Club announcement, and obviously I would be delighted to hear it, but all I’ve read recently is simply speculation, from journalists and fans, what is going on?
