It’s So Vital Newcastle Sell Their Unwanted Players Quickly

Newcastle duo Rafa Benitez and Lee Charnley have another massive transfer window this summer, and let’s hope it turns out like the one two years ago.

Rafa and Lee made some great buys and sales in that summer, and we even ended up with over £30M in profits.

This may be a similar kind of window and the £40M to £50M Rafa will get up front from Mike Ashley has been termed only moderate (to small) by some.

But this window really depends on how quickly some of our superfluous players can be sold.

Newcastle’s transfer duo – Lee Charnley and Rafa Benitez

The transfer money Rafa gets for selling players he can use to bring other players in.

And it seems the club is in full flight now having apparently agreed on a deal where Chancel Mbemba will soon move to Porto for £7M.

Fulham also say they have an agreement in principle to buy Aleksandar Mitrovic and Rafa knows it’s in his and Newcastle’s best interests to get these deals done quickly.

But he will not take any risks and first he wants a striker brought in before he will allow Mitrovic to leave – he’s not daft.

And we half expect him to bring in two strikers this summer.

If Rafa can get £7M for Mbemba, £2M for Sels, £5M for Colback, £11M for Merino and £20M for Mitrovic that’s an extra £45M he has to spend.

It’s not chicken-feed.

That gets close to £100M in total, and while that’s nowhere near what the top six PL clubs can spend, it’s at least competitive with what the other (lesser) Premier League clubs will have for their budgets.

Other players who could be sold this summer include Henri Saivet and Rolando Aarons – and even Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle if Newcastle can line up better players to come in to replace them.

And we hear that £40M-£50M could become more if Rafa signs along the dotted line for a long-term stay on Tyneside.

Oh yes – what a dream that is for fans!

As long as we can sell players quickly this summer, we could end up having a good transfer window with adequate money available to (vastly) improve the squad.

That’s our hope in any case.

Comments welcome.

This just in. New advert from NUFC: Bring us your old, your disabled, your free transfers! We’ll take anyone you have. Small bonus for those under 50. Willing to consider the excessively flatulent! Good prospects for first team minutes. Contact Lee Chutney now!

As well as Haidara, Jack Hunter has signed for Gateshead for around £5m, Callum Williams to Spennymoore for around £7m and Callum Smith to Hull for around £10m.

Although I’m not sure of the exact fee’s.

Miles Starforth at the Shilds Gazette just reported

Newcastle United are not in talks over a move for Stefano Sturaro, contrary to reports. The Juventus midfielder has been repeatedly linked with the club this summer.

It’s called a joke jiblets. It’s amazing how the most offensive person on here suddenly has a thin skin. No offense intended to any handicapped person at all. If offense was taken I withdraw the post.

Lesh, I couldn’t agree more mate. Everybody wants an owner willing to show ambition and take the club forward, but Ashley isn’t that man obviously. Not the first like is he? Probably won’t be the last either. We seem to attract them. But then, other clubs have equally odious owners.
It is what it is mate. Don’t see a queue of people willing to buy him out though.

Loch, about time that story got put to bed. His agent has certainly been trying to persuade the world we’re in for him but as I suspected it’s just another BS story to drum up interest in him. If he was good enough he wouldn’t have to make up claims involving us,his ability would, sell itself.

Couldn’t agree more mate. People are no longer as backward in coming forward about these horrible gits anymore. It was once something that wasn’t talked about but now people accept the bairns aren’t to blame, whereas once it was something people were ashamed happened to them and kept quiet. Absolute respect for those who gave evidence and I hope it encourages more to come forward.

Are ST renewals such a big deal.
I’ve been paying for next seasons since March.
If I kept it going after relegation I’m not going to stop it now.
