Pictures Of Newcastle Players Arriving For Training Today

Here are some pictures we’ve scrounged together of some of the players arriving for training at the Benton Training grounds this morning.

It’s like the first day back at school – as I very vaguely remember – kind of.

Now hopefully we can unload some of the unwanted players and bring in new ones – at least four more good players needed.

One of our two new signings – Martin Dubravka

Matz Sels.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels – pity the Anderlecht move broke down

Youngsters Jacob Murphy and Adam Armstrong arrive

Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles locking the car

Ciaran Clark – how’s the lip – he’s now sporting a mustache

Paul Dummett – cautiously emerging from his car

Dwight Gayle – new hairstyle – seems upbeat – great smile

Joselu – happy enough

Jacob Murphy.

You’re assuming that Rafa’s being kept in the loop regarding transfers. He’s said himself that he identifies his targets and leaves getting them in to Charnley whose strings are pulled by Ashley, possibly via his henchman, Barnes. If Ashley won’t go beyond a figure, then that’s that although Rafa may well have agreed to a ceiling – we don’t know.

Ashley does have a reputation, a history of leading managers along does he not?

lesh, he’s let us know in every window whether he was happy with progress or not, whether we could expect signings soon etc. This one, nada, zip, diddly squat. Not a peep has left his lips. You can say that maybe he was on holiday, but when did Rafa ever take 6 consecutive weeks off? When has he gone so long without any kind of official press release?

Nah, he’s been asked to say nowt, which he would not be happy with in the slightest unless it were for good purpose. If it was just the usual Ashley shenanigans, he wouldn’t have been so quiet.

    Not really
During McClaren’s tenure Shteve admitted the buying and selling was down to himself
and the triumvirate of Moncur Carr and Charnley in which time they spent £73.5M.

Don’t know if it’s mocked up but Rafa’ instagram ‘liked’ a comment from a fan saying thanks for staying when we would understand you walking for working under that knacker

Manolo Gabbiadini is a good call
There’s a PL striker in there just
waiting to blossom under the right coaching

It’s good to see Jesper tenaciously hanging on to the Joselu/Murphy/Slimani gunk despite all refutation – it’s as enjoyable as observing a filthy seabird regurgitate it’s long-stored well digested stomach contents for its young. Trouble is it’s about as relevant as Clement Attlee’s hairstyle. Everyone’s moved on.

This should be a good match. In fact, every match remaining in the WC should be a good match.
Will be interesting to see if Suarez can hold his temper if Uruguay go behind. And another opportunity to see if Mbappe really is any better than Gayle.(That last bit is a joke btw)

In the pic “Joselu looks happy enough” no wonder picking up his wages. He’d be very lucky to get premier league football anywhere else.

Uruguay playing Diego Laxalt at left back
smacks of trying to squeeze all top players
    I believe in specialist backs

Good list of players. Fairly doable as well! Add to it a LB to compete with / backup Dummitt and a CB to replace Mbemba and job done!

are you not doing the very same by assuming that Rafa’s not being kept in the loop, and being unduly pessimistic,

the truth is none of us have a clue what’s going on within the club more so this window than any other in recent history which is making people more jumpy than ever to the extent that some are overreacting to every headline ED puts up

chicousa – actually meant to add cover at cb and lb but was distracted and prematurely posted it.

I might be reading too much into rafa’s smile and body language but he is looking like a man who is extremely happy.

I’m hoping he gets what he wants then signs a contract for a decade.

I just think Rafa loves football and being at Newcastle and can’t help but smile. If he signs a new contract it would be the signing of the decade not just the year!

OneAlanShearer, I think he was putting on a show for the cameras, whether to reassure us, or just because that’s what he’s like or because he knows something we don’t is impossible to guess. It’s undoubtedly good to see him chipper though.

I’ve just read Cavani’s lips on Uruguay’s bench.
He said to the feller next to him.
“I ain’t bothered if we go out it just means
I get to sign for Rafa a bit earlier”

Yes, agreed – we can but wait and see how things pan out. Though I still subscribe to the thought that Rafa’s as though shrugged his shoulders and thought or said it’s Ashley’s call so over to him to deal with things going forward.

There only so much Rafa can do to influence things

We should look at the free transfer market Bernard, Jack Wilshere, Max Meyer, then buy Shaqiri for his £12m release fee. I’d rather us pay bigger wages on free transfers than pay a big fee and average wages on average footballers. Use the transfer kitty on wages.
