News in the Chronicle today that returning Newcastle players from loan spells last season – Jack Colback and Achraf Lazaar have been moved to train with the U23 squad.
Jack was at odds with Rafa last summer and he finally went on loan to Nottingham Forest in January and he had a good loan spell there and they want him back this season.
But the wages of £45K/week he gets at Newcastle could be a problem.
Jack Colback – no future at Newcastle
Newcastle want to sell him this summer before his five-year contract runs out next June.
Achraf Lazaar had a nightmare loan spell at Italian side, Benevento, last season and he was ousted from the first team squad last January.
That’s when the club brought in free agent Bacary Sagna, the former Arsenal, and Manchester City full-back and had to find room for him in the squad.
Lazaar was the one he replaced.
Neither player has a future at Newcastle and Rafa will try to sell both of them this summer – if he can.
Rafa will also control the number and the actual players he wants training in the first team squad this summer.
This is not a huge surprise.
