It took a couple of says to get done but Newcastle have announced 22-year-old Brazilian winger Kenedy on loan for the season.
And our fans have turned to Twitter to welcome the lad back who made a huge difference for us last season and he also now joins goalkeeper Martin Dubravka who was also on loan this season and was great too.
Rafa Benitez welcomes Kenedy – in Ireland

If Kenedy has a class season, he’ll end up being worth a hell of a lot more than the option to buy fee we were probably quoted?! #NUFC

Getting Kenedy back is brilliant. Don’t get me wrong but our squad is EXACTLY the same as what finished last season plus Ki. (Merino soon to be out) Still need a striker, no10 and a full back IMO. #nufc

Delighted to see Kenedy back but still struggling to understand why we haven’t agreed an option to buy at the end. Chelsea are happy to sell by all accounts and makes no sense for us to have to go back into market to replace him next summer #NUFC
— Richie Walker (@RichWalk3r) July 12, 2018
? Some people are never happy.. we’ve just got Kenedy back for a full season & alright it’s a loan, but we get first refusal at the end of it. Would you rather we didn’t get him & panic bought in the last week ?????? #nufc #logic

Since you’re in the mood for questions, I really liked that straight answer you gave Tsunki @4, that’s cleared that up then!!
You suggested that Rafa should bring Slimani back, why would he even consider that?

Who is responsible for the bad purchases?
What should be done about that person?

Comment #16Delighted to have Kenedy for another season. Hopefully it can be longer.
Sredni – Fair enough, I’m living in Ireland and if “it’s coming home” was completely tongue in cheek, I have to admit that one flew right over my head.
What I thought was refreshing this time round was that the Press (and in fairness I mean the red tops) weren’t predicting landslide victories and the inexorable march to the Final type crap that they normally spew. I completely understand that the players and the vast majority of the fans don’t buy into or peddle this usual hype.
What I liked about the team in this tournament was the togetherness. I’ve not particularly associated that with England teams of the last 30-35 years. In some ways your downfall this time (no superstar) was perhaps also your greatest strength. It seemed to me that in the past some of your superstar players thought they were too good/big for the squad and it killed the harmony of the team, the collective spirit. This team has no shortage of that and can build on it.
I really liked the fact that the players decided to ban/minimise the use of phones around meal times to talk to each other and get to know each other better.

Comment #17Well Jail…you never really understood the irony did you. There are not that many that would even argue Joselu was a poor buy, but think is that was so evident even before we bought him.
His position was a priority signing and should have been dealt with as a priority. We didn’t!
Trying to fix that in January by bring in an injured Slimani who had delivered absolutely nothing at Leicester was a bit rich…and then sending Mitro out on loan. The issue here is Rafa kept faith with Joselu even when everyone else could see he was clinging to a straw!
Then not so long ago we hear Rafa is interested in Rondon…
Come on…if this is not a pathetic imagery then I don’t know what…that’s why a posted that joke message about Rafa should bring back Slimani as well!
You cannot make this up and you cannot point the blame anywhere else!
Disclaimer: I know the budget he works under is a joke but that’s how it is. It’s still a lot more than most other teams outside of the PL

I did not know that. You’re right about the team spirit and I think the players and the management both deserve credit for encouraging it.

Comment #22I will slide by the fact you can’t seem to help being a bitter whinger when you post, Jesper so I’ll help you with a few prompts, correct me if I’m wrong.
1/ Who is responsible for the bad purchases?
Jespers answer – Benitez
2/ What should be done about that person?
Jespers answer – sacked and another better manager hired.
Is that about right Jesper?

Comment #23Jesper – No one can argue that Joselu was a success for us. He wasn’t. Yes he played a role to the best of his ability and Raffa appreciated it. It’s worth mentioning that he was bought for peanuts and at the time Stoke were distraught at losing him (he’d played multiple blinders in their preseasons)
But in fairness what does any of that have to do with anything ? You said that his position was a priority signing and should have been dealt with as a priority. 100% agree with you. Raffa would 100% agree with you as well no doubt. However Raffa was lead to believe that he’d actually have money to spend and bought a player for the future in Murphy. He then had no cash. Ashley would not give him any money. What was he supposed to do ?
Why do you think we got Kenedy on loan this time ? Because Raffa is now savvy to the way Fashley does business and is saving the cash for a striker.

Comment #26Rob – Yeah I thought it was a great idea, Southgate was talking about it in an interview, he reckons it started when they went on a team building exercise with the Marines and had no phone coverage. The management team thought there’d be carnage but the players mostly seemed to think it was great.
Years ago you’d have players on a bus talking to each other, taking the pi$$ having a laugh, playing cards etc. now it seems to be every player cocooned with their noise cancelling headphones listening to music and not communicating with each other.

Comment #28Jail regarding kids over here, my own kids told me that very few of their buddies were supporting England. I asked why (given that they watch prem football etc), and one of the main reasons was the education they got at school 2-3 years ago re 1916 and the war of independence here. From what myself and parents can see, it was very much warts and all. My young fellow despises kane because he injured Lejeune. Fair enough :). My family as English relatives and love them to bits obviously. I lived there and still have buddies there and we were winding each other up all tournament. You may think I’m backhanded because I can compliment England on a good tournament but be delighted if you lose. nicer bunch of guys, manager etc. I’m quite blunt in saying I’m not a fan though, and neither are thousands of people over here. But don’t think I encourage any anti Englishness at home. That’s for the birds. Oh, I won’t be cheering ur rugby guys either. Neither will the Welsh etc. And let me know next time you are cheering for Germany OK?
