One In – One Out – That’s What Football’s All About

We were sorry to see Mikel Merino leave the club yesterday – he’s a young player who looks like he has the skill to become an excellent player in the future.

But he didn’t want to stay at Newcastle so there’s not much Rafa or the club could do about it.

But just before Mikel left us there was news that Rafa had managed to get a season-long loan deal worked out for Brazilian winger Robert Kenedy – who was dazzling for us this year on loan.

At the same time Merino, after recovering from his back injury couldn’t get back into the side because of the great form of Jonjo Shelvey and Mo Diame – who was a revelation in the holding midfield position.

Ayoze has pointed out on his Twitter account that one friend has left the club but another is coming back – so it kinds of evens itself out.

But it also shows how footballers careers can be unpredictable and it’s often difficult to settle anywhere for any length of time.

We are hoping that Ayoze can improve further his goalscoring prowess next season.

Last season he was our top scorer with 10 goals – 8 scored in the Premier League – the most he’s ever scored in a Premier League season for us.

Kenedy scoring against the Saints

He is another player who has improved under the guidance of Rafa Benitez.

Howay The Lads!!

Is the St. Patricks game being shown by NUFC TV, that should give us a better idea of the squad.

    Jesper,
You complained that the Abraham deal went on too long and that we should have went elsewhere, Kenedy has taken a month now and exactly the same thing could have happened. Which strikers were available last summer for 5M pounds?

Also, does Rafa honestly seem the type of man that would come out and lie that he’d signed players he didn’t really want to had he been given a free reign to sign who and what he wanted? After all he never said that after all his signings in the Championship.

If decent money isn’t spent this summer I fear for our long term future, the only worry is that Ashley has calculated he has made enough out of us now and send us down the pan, I think that would give him greater pleasure than 100M pounds.

Jail…Abrams should never have been a priority signing for us I have said that. And if you spend so long on getting a player in and that player either end up being to expensive or doesn’t want to come here you better have other players on your list!

Rafa draws up that list and you cannot really blame other if they don’t want to come here…

Then that list is not realistic is it?

That transfer window Rafa had to offload players to release money…he couldn’t far various reasons but that was the situation.

We should never had spend £12M on a young winger when a forward was the first priority. And I find it strange that if he doesn’t want to use Mitro that he wasn’t off as the very first. That goes for Gayle as well…

Rafa has to take some blame here…

I fear as well if that’s not clear to you! And I fear where we are next summer…but for now we got to get the deals right this window…

How much excitement has been caused not by inflammatory insults and badgering but by two questions that are as harmless as asking somebody what their favourite colour is. It’s revealing how self righteous some dress themselves up as when defending a mischievous pest who hasn’t the courage to put forward the sly insinuations he is making into concrete opinion.

How pitiful. Can’t answer yes or no to two simple, uncontroversial, harmless questions. How pathetic. Almost as pathetic as the barmy pc brigade who leap to his defence as if he’s some lost orphan. He’s a grown man isn’t he? Why doesn’t he leap to his own defence and say “this is my opinion, this is what I think…”. Its no wonder he is ridiculed as an emasculated house servant with no authority of his own. He sets himself up for it.

Boy, it’s hard to read this blog at times. I know I don’t post much but I have read the blog for years and recently it’s been difficult. I like to read the football craic but sometimes it’s like being at work hearing people bitching at each other.

Ibiza, we haven’t really spoke but I quite liked your posts. If your a toon fan keep posting.

Bobbybee, love your passion. I wish I could still go to the match like I used to.

Come on we all have one thing in common, the toon. Let’s keep it to football talk. HWTL.

    Jesper,
I’m not sure if you watch and read every single interview Rafa gives as I do but Abraham was a priority signing because as Rafa had explained we didn’t have much money and things had to be done right, as far as we’re led to believe Murphy was sanctioned because he fit the Ashley mold and profit could be made later. If you choose to blame a manager for the circus that has engulfed us for the last eleven years then that’s up to you. He will not get everything right and after what he has done for the club so far deserves a lot more than to have his record rubbished given the restraints he works under.

Mitro is still here for some reason, is this Ashleys way of telling Rafa you are not selling him for 20M to buy someone who won’t ever fetch more than 20M, a very dangerous game for Mikey to be playing.

Nope Jib, restraints is entirely acceptable:
a : to prevent from doing, exhibiting, or expressing something
b: to moderate or limit the force, effect, development, or full exercise of restrain trade

    Legolas,
When the transfer window is turning out to be so depressingly familiar it’s very hard to talk about who we should or shouldn’t sign, personally I think the work rate and commitment to the club outweighs any particular skills that Townsend has over Ritchie, I don’t think I would like to swap them have them both but not a swap.

I personally think Andros will offer us a more attacking threat going forward.Richie apart from his graft often ran at defences then cut back in because of his lack of pace. Was gutted when he left if I am honest but would welcome him back as I see him as the better option out of the two
