There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Andros Townsend this summer about possibly returning to Newcastle for next season.
Rafa Benitez is a big fan of Andros and he brought the best out of the player in 2016 after Rafa signed on as the Newcastle manager.
It happens in almost every transfer window – there’s news Rafa wants to bring in Townsend.
But nobody told Roy Hodgson the Palace manager and there is news from London today that he has no interest at all in selling Townsend.

Thia is what Roy has said about his top players Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend in Football.London:
“There can be as much speculation as you like, and Andros Townsend is in a similar situation (to Zaha.”
“He has got three years on his contract, and we have no interest at all in selling Andros Townsend.”
“I am not surprised that other clubs would be interested, and there are players at other clubs who aren’t for sale that I wouldn’t mind, but we are not selling players.”
“We are not a selling club at the moment, far from it. “
“We are working very hard to keep the players we have got, and players of big importance, and Zaha and Townsend are right up there as players we want to keep.”
“And speculation can continue, the fun can continue if people want to read it, but I have no interest in it.”

We wouldn’t mind at all if Matt Ritchie stays at Newcastle for next season.
The only way Rafa can fund bringing in Townsend is by selling Matt to Stoke City for around £15M and that has not gone down well with the fans.
What we need news on quickly is what’s happening with bringing in a fullback, two creative midfielders, and one or two strikers.
It doesn’t look like we are bidding for long-term target Danny Ings from Liverpool either.

Comment #4I don’t think that people were angry with the ITKs per se. It’s just they should have covered themselves with comments like ” only passing on what I’ve heard” and left it at that. It’s when they got so bullish with remarks like ”if it doesn’t happen I’ll leave the blog forever” and it’s ”nailed on” and ”you heard it here first.” There were no apologies for getting it wrong, just defensive abuse that quite rightly peed some of us off.

Comment #6I don’t think Ki will be the only Ex Swansea player either signed or linked, I see Ayew is linked again as we were before he signed for Swansea. Could be a good squad signing, who else would come/be good enough?
