Benitez Talks About The Return Of Aleksandar Mitrovic Today

leksandar Mitrovic will return to Newcastle today, and he will be disappointed a deal has not been agreed yet for his move to Fulham.

Newcastle never do anything quickly in the transfer market, and it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that we have not yet agreed a fee with the Cottagers, who are very keen to sign him.

Newcastle are also keen to sell him since he does not fit into the plan of Rafa at Newcastle and we need the money.

But with just over two weeks to go in this shortened transfer window we still haven’t brought in a striker, and that is our number one requirement in this summer’s transfer window.

Rafa Benitez with Aleksandar Mitrovic

This is what Rafa said last night when asked about Mitro coming back:

“He has to come back. He has to come back, and he is due to come back on Wednesday.”

“We need to check on how he is, and then we will decide if he will go to Portugal.”

“It is a day off for the rest of the squad (on Wednesday), so we have some time to see how things are.”

“Tomorrow is the future for him.”

We really hope a deal to sell Mitrovic to Fulham can be done quickly and that his transfer – like so many at Newcastle – doesn’t drag on for far too long.

When Rafa said over a year ago that we must improve the speed and guile with which we do transfers – he was right – but there’s been absolutely no improvement whatsoever.

With Ashley at the helm, it’s starting to look like it will be too difficult to build the side that Rafa wants on Tyneside.

A team that can win trophies and challenge for the top six in the Premier League.

If he doesn’t sign a new contract this season, we should all make the most of having Rafa as our manager until next June.

It could well be his last season at the club, and he’s been just terrific over the previous two seasons – two very successful seasons for us.

But he hasn’t been rewarded by the owner Mike Ashley.

If Rafa does leave next summer, Mike Ashley will have screwed everything up.

I was thinking along the same lines – our transfer business coming in has been done and we will do a Andy Carroll – sell Mitrovich for whatever price we can get on the last evening of the transfer window then come out with the usual shit. We tried to get this that and the other over the line but could not push the transfer through.

RAFA will swallow his pride and walk the day after the transfer window closes – Ashley will go back to Pardew and Carver – There’ll be a riot

‘Some NUFC supporters are complaining to OFSTED over Sky Sports’ biased reporting’

I think OFSTED might be interested in fake news being spotted by school kids but…….. We’ll take that as a Grauniad type typo.

Have you noticed how typos are creeping back since the Grauniad went tabloid?

Charlie, i agree with your sentiments but I don’t think Rafa will walk before January.

I still think and hope something is going on – Rafa isn’t holding back now, and it’s blatent lies that he can have any penny the club generates.

Hopefully he’s on his way out – it’s the hope that kills us.

I understand there is every reason to feel glum over transfers, but Micky@1 defies belief. Mitro will go this week for around £20m. Everyone knows Fulham want him, Fulham can afford him, and Fulham’s “interest” in other CFs is rubbish. How many Serbian goal scoring centreforwards with a track record of success at Fulham are there in the market, d’you suppose?
