Mitrovic Joining Fulham And Gayle Also Likely To Leave

There was good news tonight from Sky Sports Keith Downie that Newcastle and Fulham have finally agreed on a deal for Aleksandar Mitrovic and it’s likely to go through this weekend.

Downie has tweeted the initial fee is £22M rising to £27M with add-ons based on the performance of Mitro at the Craven Cottage club.

With Mitro just not fitting into the Newcastle plans this has to be a good deal for Newcastle.

Dwight Gayle – could be leaving Newcastle

Newcastle drew 0-0 at Porto tonight and had to hang on for most of the game defending.

And we saw some great saves from goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and with 11 minutes to go Rafa made another 6 changes to give some of the fringe players a runout – after also making changes at the half.

The positive coming out of the game for Newcastle was the resolute defending by the side with Clark and Lascelles playing well in central defense.

Dwight Gayle is in the squad in Portugal but he didn’t get any playing time and that suggests the deal to take him to West Brom as a swap for Salomon Rondon may be close.

We’d rather keep Dwight on Tyneside for next season but with the sale of Mitrovic, we have to believe there will be another striker – in addition to Rondon and Muto to join the club before August 9th.

We hope so in any case.

This is what Keith Downie has tweeted after the 0-0 draw at Porto tonight.

The money could also allow Rafa to sign 24-year-old left-back Joe Bryan from Bristol City but he picked up an injury in their 2-1 win at Bournemouth yesterday and limped off the field.

In addition to Yoshinori Muto we must get at least one new (net) striker in so if there is a swap between Gayle and Rondon we expect another striker – maybe Danny Ings- to come in.

Comments welcome.

if the mitrovic fee is that large they are probably paying in instalments. meaning still no money to spend this year.

Gotta say I’m not too displeased at all at moving on Mitro and Gayle. Should have happened ideally a year ago.

Aye thats my local, haven’t been oot 2 mich lately had a bit of a shitey time of late in one way or another…glad they are gettin the bands back on again like, the last manager didn’t like them and concentrated on the food…place went quiet,so hopefully it picks up.
On the football,we need creativity and a presence up front so hopefully this sale of mitro if true, gives us a chance to fill these voids that seem to be our major fault at the minute.

    Muto IS the mitrovic replacement.

    And jimmy.

How is buying players straight up but selling on the drip good long term?

As far as I’m concerned it actually hinders us massively in the recruiting of players as we sell a player, don’t receive the full fee and can never buy for the price we sold or get equivalent quality. Go for the cheaper option hoping they’ll come good? Only to rinse and repeat?

Cash flow issues galore as we are witnessing right now.

Run a club like that and you eventually get relegated. Twice in 11 years.

With near misses thrown in too.

Yeah, I can see how that works long term.

Brilliant bit of spin right there jimmy lad. You should work for bullsh1t Bishop.

Florian Lejeune is facing a lengthy lay-off after suffering a serious knee injury. Rafa Benitez has revealed that the Newcastle United defender has damaged his cruciate ligament. Lejeune, signed from Eibar a year ago, will undergo surgery. Speaking after tonight’s goalless draw against Porto at the Estadio do Dragao, Benitez said: “I think it’s a cruciate ligament. “He will need an operation. We need to decide exactly when, but I think we will lose him for a while.”

How did he get the injury? Was it a cheap hit from the Irish team or another reason ? Lost him at the start of last season thanks to Kane and guess what he’s missing from this seasons start against Spurs.

Could be a big miss. He was a key player alongside Lascalles last season. Clark isn’t a full time replacement so who’s Rafa going to bring in now ?

It’s good if it goes back in when it comes in, of course. You’ll waste no time telling me it doesn’t go back in too I suppose, without having a clue either way.

Gayle shouldn’t be going anywhere and Rondon isn’t worth a large fee because he’s on a free next season.

So is it that Gayle is a swap with WBA because Rondon has an escape clause ? Ashley would love that. Two transfers and no money changes hands.

If Gayle goes then is it that Muto is his replacement and Rondon Mitro’s ?
So much for another striker then.
The Mitro money will have to go towards a CB due to Lejeune’s injury.

No way would I be swapping Gayle for that Fcuking donkey. It’s not strengthening the squad, It’s putting money in the fat tw@ts pocket. we already have one donkey,Joselu). At this rate Rafa’s next job will be working for Scarborough council giving kiddie rides on Scarborough beach. If Rafa was promised £40Mil +outgoing transfer money, I make that £86Mil to buy 3 or 4 quality signings, so why the bargain basement shit?. Rafa’s turning out to be another yes man.
