Rafa Benitez Issues Message To Newcastle Fans

Things are not looking too good in the transfer market at the moment with the Newcastle hierarchy stumbling and hesitant in the transfer window.

So there’s no change there.

After supposedly negotiating with West Brom over the sale or the loan of Salmon Rondon for over two months that deal is now off.

The release clause in his contract is now reported to have gone up to £25M – so Newcastle have missed their chance to sign the big striker – somebody Rafa has wanted at Newcastle all summer.

But West Brom will now have trouble selling the player who has only one year left on his contract and could become a free agent next summer.

Rafa Benitez – let down again by the owner

There was some better news yesterday that we may be going after some young players to fill the gaps in the squad.

Players like Everton’s 20-year-old Croatian International attacking midfielder Nikola Vlasic and 19-year-old French left-back Stanley N’Soki, who is at PSG were two of them.

If we can get those up and coming players to the club, they would be good signings – give the shortage of players we have at the moment.

Here’s what Rafa has said to the fans as reported in the Chronicle today:

“Our fans are very clever, I think they know more or less what is going on.”

“So I think they will try to support the team and help the players.”

“They know they have to give everything every game so after we can be better or worse.”

“But we have to compete and we have to be sure we have the same mentality that we had last year.”

We still have 7 days left in this transfer window, so maybe we can get four or five players in – but we will not be holding our breath on that.

But stubborn Mike Ashley has proven – if there were any doubts – that he is not the owner who Rafa can work with – that’s the sad part of all of this.

Comments welcome.

    Ashley quote of the day

“Firstly any potential buyer would have to show they had the best interests of Newcastle United at heart and had both the commitment and finance to be worthy custodians of such a fine football club before I would even consider doing a deal.

“And secondly, I gave you my word that as long as I remain owner, this club would continue to be run responsibly at all levels. I hope you will accept that I have stood by that pledge.”

Aye, he should ship out, as I said, unless he’s hoping there’s a sale, this situation is no good for anyone and he should go under costructive dismissal.

The only problem with Rafa just going is that…make no mistake, the next manager coming in to replace him will be an Ashley choice yes man a la Pardew, and then ITS ALL OVER.

Ashley must somehow be ‘forced’ to change tack enough to make Rafa happy to commit, or we are set for a huge fall.
Right now,it doesn’t look like he will though..

Rafa has become a problem ,of course as a consequence of the mis management around him
Almost too big for the club
No one is too big for the club
He is a paid employee and has a responsibility to get on with the job to the best of his ability,if he does not like what’s going on around him he should walk away
His carefully chosen comments are not helpful in any way and are just fueling a press hungry to have a go
Rafa has become the story ,not good

Yorky mag. Let’s look at it a different way. Rafa goes. Who do you want brought in? Who else would come in now other than an Ashley associate, someone fairly incompetent but who won’t make a fuss.. Ashley surrounds himself with these types., which often works out for him and his interests but nobody else.

Has the pr guru bishop employed his minions to log on here and bash the Ashley bashers and try shift opinion on rafa calling him a winger? Do people really think that Rafa will be short of job offers? At 6million a year? We should bless our face he ever walked through the door. AFTER RAFA DOES GO WHAT MANAGER IN HIS RIGHT HEAD WOULD COME AND WORK FOR MIKE ASHLEY? I KNOW PEOPLE WILL SAY AP OR JC OR PULIS BUT THAT’S ALL WE WILL GET 2ND CLASS BOTTOM RUNG MANAGERS.

Ashley has found out two things:

    1. He has mistakenly in his own book recruited a manager is stronger than him. No one on the books i that they are all puppets and yes men outside the playing staff. He keeps them all on a long leash and dares them to step out of line.
    2. He has mistakenly recruited a manager revered by the fans instead of the fans holding banners up demanding they are sacked as well as him, they are mounting one campaign and only one that is he (Ashley) should go.

    What can he do!

    1. Bring in weak and cheap players hoping there will be one who cannot be developed by Rafa so he can point his stubby digit crying there he is not such a great manager after all in the hope he can turn the fans against Rafa.
    2. Wear Rafa down in a battle of wills he believes he can break whatever promise he makes as they are all verbal (so prove I said that). This is brought about from pure jealousy nothing less.
    3. He will also punish the fans for daring to put a manager above the owner after all only him, the owner, can destroy the club and show those damned geordies that doing so means nothing to him. It is a play thing nothing more it is the stupid (in his eyes) fans who are emotionally bound up with the club.
In Rafa we trust if he goes we all go and although playing to an empty stadium would hurt the players we have to be honest it would only get publicity that his friends at sky would use against Rafa.

This is why there’s always a section of
fans at every club (which are used to
having top notch coaches) Rafa has been
to , that don’t like him – because as Yorky
    says HE becomes the story.

That’s why he’s hanging on at NUFC
He’s never had such a high % of fan adulation.

Militant Liverpool fans did no harm to their clubs fortunes when they decided to pressurise their hierarchy
Hicks and Gillette were vulnerable. They could not pay the loans they took out to buy the club. The banks essentially then called the shots.
    Not so with Ashley.

That Bishop inspired Mirror article seems to be doing what it’s meant to do in converting seeming lost souls to the Ashley cause.

Rafa needs all fans to understand what’s happening and support him while Ashley, through Barnes and Bishop crank up the pressure on him.

Yorky, if Rafa ships out, Ashley’s won – is that what you’re hoping for?

I agree with all the comment about who if Rafa goes
    That is not my point
I just think that this stand off has in itself become destructive and I can only see two outcomes
    Ashley sells unlikely
    Rafa goes likely
So if that is the result move forward or backwards but don’t keep this mess rolling on
    And on
Just a side I am as passionate as any and have sat in the gallowgate for 25 years so please don’t suggest I have an allegiance other than NUFC

For me there are two explanations.

    1) The owner wants the manager gone. Does not want to pay compo, so essentially playing at silly buggers.

    2) Ashley has decided to do an Ellis Short. 2 years of Prem money followed by parachute payments.
This will allow him to strip out 200-240 million. Sell the shell that is left for 60.
    That’s his money back.

    Yorky Mag,

I really can’t believe that you are for real………

In Rafa we have the best chance of having a measure of success since Sir Bobby & King Kev no two ways about that eh!

Who do you propose you’d get in to replace Rafa if he were to go? Do you really think any other manager would get the team building support and cash from Mr Ashley? How many players have been sold for BIG money? Where has that money gone? Why is the signing of that turd Mr Owen still our record signing after all these years? Where has all last seasons EPL cash gone?

Is everyone out of step bar you? I think you are the one completely out of step – your views are in percentage terms around less than 1% of reality. I’d go as far as to say 99.5% of our fans are totally behind Mr Benitez – the other .5% are almost certainly Ashley infiltrators! There’s only one man to blame in all this and his name is Mike Ashley!

Haway man it’s time you woke up to reallity!!!

Rafa would 100% win a constructive dismissal claim. Ashley promised in public to allow every penny generated by the club to be reinvested. That ain’t happened and as a result Rafa can’t do his job effectively by having to recruit second rate players. Combine that with Ashley’s record (KK) and Rafa wins hands down! However Rafa won’t claim anyway he’ll just complete his contract and walk into a top club as he has actually enhanced his reputation whilst at the Toon. If Rafa goes we’re doomed under Ashley!
