Rafa Happy Enough With Display – But We Have To Improve

Newcastle missed maybe five chances that we could have scored from in a game yesterday that we could and should have won easily.

But we were beaten 1-0, but overall the team played quite well, and if we can get some strikers in to score the goals we could still do well this season.

Our central midfield looks strong with Jonjo Shelvey, Mohamed Diame, Ki Sung-yueng and Isaac Hayden fighting it out for starting positions.

Hayden had a good game, and he showed yesterday what a good technical player he is.

Rafa Benitez – pleased enough with yesterday’s performance

He will stay with us now until at least the January transfer window before he gets any move south to be closer to his girlfriend and baby.

This is what Rafa said after the game yesterday:

“I think it was an entertaining game for the fans because both teams had chances.” “Overall we have improved.”

“We improved from the other day because we had more control and played on the ball a bit better.”

“Still we have to improve.”

“We have to have more control and not give them the chance to have counter attacks like they did especially in the second half.”

“My obligation is to try to improve the squad as much as I can until the last day.”

We were impressed with new signing Sung-yueng yesterday, and he fitted right in when Diame went off injured after 30 minutes with a knock – which is not severe.

We also see that Fabian Schaf is getting a bit of stick from some fans.

You have to allow the lad to get used to the Premier League and the different pace of football in England.

It’s going to take a few games for him to adjust but we think Schaf will turn out to be an excellent buy for us at only £3M.

Comments welcome.

How can fans give a player stick just after one game, it’s a joke.

Lesh………. I know Jib has been around on the blog longer than Bishop has been doing Ashley’s PR. However who better to approach to defend Ashley’s position than Jib, who is by far the most outspoken member of the blog. You might be on to something there.

I’m just wondering how he made the initial approach and how much they’re paying him.

My shout is a further 3 signings.

No way convinced about Rondon, as a support for a prolific no 9 – maybe.

If he is the intended goal scorer – problems lie ahead.

Senor Tuff…I cannot see us signing another forward if Rondon signs on…he’ll be our “#9” so to speak. I agree that worries me as well…

I am not sure either where Muto fits in…he’s not a #10 by trade! Are we finally changing formation?

Jib is clearly “a sleeper” – my enquiries into spying and industrial espionage clearly explains how these “people” operate.
Keep a low profile them when things get hot – become more vociferous with misinformation – ally with the blog idiots and abusers.

Where Jib fails is that he is very thick and obviously needs Google to supplement his lack of football knowledge – in general and in particular the Toon.
Outlandish and spectacular boasting about his academic prowess coming from a TV aerial erector was a step to far.

He is now “burnt” – (another espionage term) and has become a loose cannon drawing attention to himself by making on he is a woman.

    What a desperado!

Jesper……… I think Rafa prefers to have interchangeable forward players who are nippy and have an eye for goal as opposed to a big number 9 being responsible for the majority of our goals.

Jesper – I suspect you are right about Rondon – but hope not.
Rafa may “improve” him (and others) by his coaching and as a squad/team get some extra percentage out of him/them.
One thing that will not improve is missing sitters – which was the biggest gripe of West Brom fans – no problems about work rate etc – lack of goalscoring in the PL is the problem.

Betsy…if it’s the usual 4-4-1-1 formation how does that really work. He play Rondon on top with Perez behind…if it doesn’t work you sub Rondon for Muto?

…and if Perez doesn’t work you play some sorry fool out of position?

I am just curious as to what will happen this season…I am all for a change of formation and even style! I’ll even celebrate it 🙂

Well let’s see what happens but if we get 3 more (the French left back, rondon, and another) then although we haven’t bought the top notch striker we need, I’m not sure we can call it a bad window.

Senor Tuff…and we really just need someone who can score!

…to me that guy would be worth £20-25M alone! He would earn his own transfer fee by scoring more than 15 goals…

Jesper…….. I can’t predict how it will work exactly but as Rondon’s strengths are holding the ball up with his back to goal he will probably play that role and then lay it off to Perez or Muto.

To be fair to Jib he does frequent a lot of celebrity get togethers , so I suppose from being in Spain a lot with Tim Healey and the lads is where he might have been approached by Keith Bishop associates.

I don’t get Jibs post earlier about it being unfortunate for the Chronicle that ITV were at the presser. They printed exactly what the Chronicle did without the meaty headlines, basically telling us what most of us have been saying for years, that the fat man has no interest in success. It only goes to prove further that Jiblets is clutching at straws in his pathetic attempt at defending Mikey.

So the loan system is a little complicated. You can only have 4 in a season and 2 at any one time and only two from the premier league. Not sure if this includes domestic or from the championship. The only exception to the 2 loans at any one time is if there is an obligation to buy. That’s why we had dubravka, kenedy and slimani on loan from January last season.

Anybody who brings Shepherds name out of the hat in ANY favourable context needs ousting from Newcastle, never mind the blog!

Shepherd sacked Sir Bobby Robson after 5 years service and just 4 games in to a new season.

    The rot STARTED with Shepherd.

There may just be a possibility that Ashley still intends to sell the club. It would go some way to explain why they are focusing on getting players in on frees and loans and keeping the accounts healthy. Only a thought , we can but dream.
