The Sun are reporting today that Rafa Benitez will go in and try to get Liverpool to agree to a season-long loan deal for their striker Danny Ings.
Rafa will be hoping his links with Liverpool will persuade the Merseyside club to send Ings out on loan with an option to buy.
It’s unlikely that a club will come in and pay the £20M Jurgen Klopp wants for his player, with potentially another £5M in add-ons.
Danny Ings – Rafa trying for a loan deal
Southampton are the other Premier League clubs interested in the former Burnley and Bournemouth striker.
The report is that Rafa will be willing to pay £15M as the fee in the option to buy clause – and that’s higher than the Saints would be willing to pay.
Ings has picked up a couple of horrific knee injuries while at Liverpool over the last three years, and he has hardly played in this preseason due to an ankle injury.
But he’s better than the strikers we have at the club and if we can keep him fit he could be an excellent addition to the Newcastle squad.
We have to hope that Rafa can do a late deal with his former club.
What do you think?

Comment #1The players have lost faith. I believe we overachieved last year and now we’re gonna get found out. It’ll be sad to see Rafa go.

Comment #3I think we have a much better squad than last year
My only fear is that Everton knowing how Ashley
cannot resist a bargain – come in and offer a 400%
mark-up on Lamaal Lascelles.

Repost…
All your response proves is that you’re a complete and utter imbecile who has nothing valid to say about the running or future of NUFC… I asked you for some facts and you couldn’t give any… why would you post such complete nonsense on here and portray yourself as such a clown? Do you not get enough attention at home or something? What an idiot…

Comment #8For what it’s worth:
The Toon chief should be handed a striker, a left-back and a centre-back before the deadline on August 9.
And while Benitez actually wanted four players last week he has made it clear to United’s power brokers that they will again start the season battling for stability rather than the top eight tilt he was aiming for this year. (Chronicle)

Ashley still wants to sell #nufc – and that’s why they’re not getting deals done.

I think that sentence says it all. The last thing we need is another casualty aka Owen, taking his not insubstantial wages each week while being on the treatment table.
It’s a no from me.

Comment #15Jazzy, I think the chronic are just regurgitating the times piece, of course Cashley wants to sell but his greed is overwhelming his desire to sell, don’t be surprised to see the price come down in January when we’re struggling and he takes the third installment of tv money as part of his loan…..if he would just come clean about his intentions regarding the money available and why he won’t allow any to be spent, I’m sure we would maybe not agree but at least understand his reasons.
If he takes out 100m and reduces the asking price by the same and someone buys us, that is what I want, I can see why he won’t sanction big fees for players if that is his end game……while it’s risky, (Rafa could walk because of it, injuries and suspensions will affect our squad and there aren’t enough goals up front to be comfortable) I think he’s gambling on Rafa love for the club to keep him here and he’s probably hoping the sale goes through before next June .
All just my opinion by the way
