There are now just two full days left in this transfer window after we signed Salomon Rondon yesterday but lost Dwight Gayle in a loan swap deal between West Brom and Newcastle.
So the number of strikers we have did not increase with Rafa wanting to keep Dwight at the club while he has watched Newcastle try to sign Salomon Rondon since May.
L’Equipe are reporting that Newcastle have ‘intensified’ their efforts to sign 6ft 5ins Toulouse central defender Christopher Jullien – as reported by Get French Football News.
Newcastle want to sign Toulouse center-back Christopher Jullien
Here the Get French Football News tweet:
Breaking | Newcastle United have in recent hours intensified contacts with Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien – a bid is expected imminently. More follows. (L'Éq)
— Get French Football News (@GFFN) August 6, 2018
We were linked with the defender in the last couple of weeks, and Rafa needs to bring in another center-back to cover for the injured Florian Lejeune.
L’Equipe report that Rafa is lining up a £9M bid for the center-back – but it all seems very late for Newcastle to have a high chance of success.
But maybe when their backs are against the wall – because of their own intransigence and incompetence this summer – Lee Charnley, Mike Ashley, and company can move quickly to get the job done.
We need a center-back otherwise we will be short of central defenders if there are more injuries.
We hope Newcastle can get the 6ft 5ins defender through the door before Thursday night at 5:00pm.
But they cannot argue too much about the terms and transfer fee – as they usually do – because then it will never happen.
Comments welcome.

Comment #1Felt the writing was on the wall last season when Ashley sent that letter out about being offended for the players being called a championship team that was showing he thought we were paying too much and the players should be doing the business

Are you asking for rational debate?
I saw At least 3 posters trying to get a answer out of you yesterday, however it didn’t suit your aim of disrupting any sort of action from disgruntled fans so you ignored any debate as usual
You’re game is up, like the fat man’s.

Comment #4We do transfers at a snails pace so what chance have we got in bringing in 2-3 players in 3 days. Its taken 2 months to sign Rondon for gods sake. Forget about any new players coming in, thats our lot.
Enjoy this last season with Rafa because he is gone at the end of it, and rightly so, because after that we will have a Tony Pulis type yes man in charge, all our decent players will be sold, relegation for the 3rd time under Ashley is a certain, then total oblivion. You know what? a little part of me wants that to happen just to see Ashely fail financially on a big scale. HWTL.

Comment #7There were 25 players used in the first team
in the League last year – they had £14M in bonus
to divide , that was on top of their huge salaries.
£580,000 each.
Life changing money for the majority of fans I would guess
The players are not going to get
too much sympathy from the crowd
on Saturday

I’ve just refreshed the page after noticing £49,800 worth of Man u tops in the basket. They’re still there this morning. No idea how to empty this basket or how they got there. Funny thing is, another window has appeared with even more stuff in it this morning.

“Online guy
Ashley has just stated in his letter of today , Daily Mail,
that she has ignored any attempt to engage with him
“at any time.”
No he didn’t
He said he wasn’t informed of the contents of said petition
which I think is a breach of Parliamentary rules.
Onwurah is a novice MP and has show her political innocence
on many occasions.”
He “thinks”. Come back when you know. “Novice” indeed. And what are these other occasions when Onwurah demonstrated “political innocence”? Jib, still making it up as he goes along.
Some things will never change…

Comment #14Jib all clubs play there players bonuses, how come it is only Ashley that has disputes with players over it? this is the 3rd time in his reign, I can’t remember other owners of clubs having this problem, why should the players take a reduction in bonuses after the club will be making a profit from where we finished in the league last season?
