The Chronicle are quoting the Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles today that the disagreements on player bonuses for this season have been sorted out.
This is the second summer in succession there has been disagreement with Ashley on bonus payments, so it’s very good it’s been sorted out before the season starts on Saturday.
We play Tottenham at home in the early kickoff game and it would be great if we can take something out of this game.
A win would be fantastic!
Jamaal Lascelles – Newcastle captain and leader
This is what Jamaal has said:
We’ve managed to sort the off-field stuff; now that’s out of the way, we don’t have any reason why we can’t go out and put on a good performance.
“We know where we stand. No-one’s moaning, no-one’s upset and now it’s just about gelling together even more, working hard, getting a good energy around the club and the training ground.”
“And doing what we do best which is working hard and playing as a team.”
You can tell from those comments from Jamaal that’s he’s a born leader.
Notice he doesn’t mention any winners or losers – it’s been agreed and that’s the main thing.
We have to believe Jamaal played a major part for the second year running in getting an agreement on the bonuses.
A bit of class from the Newcastle captain.
Here’s a tweet from Pete Graves of Sky Sports saying positive talks have led to a successful conclusion.
#nufc players have now agreed and signed the bonus agreement with the club. Positive talks have taken place. All media duties such as walk-up shots etc done today.

Comment #3Glad this has been sorted but the players shouldn’t have been forced into that position in the first place.
It looks like there’s no communication and everyone is TOLD what to do and to get any dialogue going people need to kick off to be heard.
Whatever the situation leading to the players refusing to give interviews etc it’s not good for players club or fans, everyone at the club is pulling in the same direction except Ashley.

Comment #4BeeGuy, the bonus shenanigans is probably to distract the fans so that we don’t notice they haven’t actually bought anyone decent! “We might not have bought anyone but look how united our current squad are sine nice Mr Ashley & lovely Mr Charners sorted out their

Comment #5Amazing isn’t it? Some real adverse and harming publicity (by the players) against Ashley shown nationwide and in the media and suddenly there’s a solution.
Shouldn’t that be an example for the fans? Do likewise and we may just get some action from the Rotund Controller.
