Sky Sports Pundit Tips Newcastle For Relegation This Season

Sky Sports Soccer Saturday pundit Charlie Nicholas doesn’t seem to be a fan of Newcastle and last season he panned the club a few times as a Championship club, but we survived and finished in the top half of the Premier League,

But Nicholas still doesn’t think Newcastle have brought in the quality we need this summer and tips us for relegation next May.

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas – thinks Magpies will be relegated

Here’s what the pundit has said about Newcastle:

“Newcastle are right on the edge of it with what has been going there this summer.”

“They did well to get the money they did for Aleksandar Mitrovic but they still can’t get quality in, although I do like Kennedy.”

“The only thing keeping this club together is the relationship between the fans and Rafael Benitez.”

“But I genuinely hope I’m wrong with fearing it could all fall apart.

On a much brighter note Sky Bet has the following clubs as favorites to be relegated:

Cardiff 4/6
Huddersfield 11/10
Fulham 15/8

Newcastle are 8th on the list at 5/1 behind Watford, Brighton, Burnley, and Bournemouth.

So there’s hope yet.

As for Transfermarkt – they are generally way behind real market values. Richarlison for example is listed as £22 mill – yet he went for £45 mill.

Wellbeck, that’s just taking the piss. He would be ideal for us. That’s Ginola territory, relatively speaking.

The repulsive Richard Keys as Ashley’s cheerleader. Turns the stomach doesn’t it ?
Typical London media though. If Ashley was in charge of THEIR clubs it’s suddenly different.
But as for Charlie Nicholas – to be fair, it’s what we’re thinking anyway

Understand United are working on cut-price deals so #NUFC WILL end the transfer window with an eight-figure profit. Now the question is: Where’s the money gone? Deatils of deals and what comes next:

So if we end up £28m in profit. Collect all the tv money. The premier league money etc etc … will Ashley’s “loan” be paid back. Cos all that money in massively out numbers what he’s “owed” or will he still claim that’s to be paid

Defence- I’m sure the one game I saw live that Riedewald played in, he had an absolute mare.

Strikers – Welbeck would certainly be a massive upgrade for us and I think with Rafa working on his confidence he’d be a success. He’s a lovely lad too, lived in Newcastle when he played for the mackems so knows the area well.

What I’d like to know though, is how much money per pound spent on club merchandise actually goes to the club. Rangers fans kcked off when they found out it was 7p in every £1. I have a feeling we get bugger all

Transfermarkt can only reflect the market value of a player based on previous dealings, form and the current market – what it doesn’t (and can’t) do is factor in the ‘silly money tax’ for clubs selling players they don’t want to sell.

That’s where a good deal of inflation in the price arises.

Sad state of affairs when I choose to comment on the valuations of players on transfermarkt rather than who we could be signing… Says it all really. C’mon Ashley & co, prove 99.5% of us wrong and let’s oull something (decent) out the bag…

The suspicious timing when you consider that we sold Arma then miraculously had the Rondon deal sorted. Toney out then someone else in? We’re the only team in this multi-millionaires game that have to juggle the U23’s players with first team arrivals.

I agree mate – especially with the ‘under Rafa’ sentiment – but I have made the mistake of calling our team “too good to go down” before. I was wrong.

As I said, I don’t think we will go down. I think we’ll finish 12th or 13th. But i can never feel supremely confident… Such are the joys of supporting the Toon.

I agree, I don’t think the team will get relegated. But it will become dreadful with a couple of big injuries or suspensions.
It is also zero progress from where we were. The squad isn’t big enough or good enough to go on any kind of cup run, which is realistically what we should be aiming for

Do we even have enough u23 players? We scrapped lots of them and yet to bring anyone in. I think we did bring yannick toure but there hasn’t been confirmation. He must be good though to play as 11 men!

That’s a very poor squad. On paper it’s the worst team in the league. Couple of injuries and we are royally screwed with championship players as back up..

Just remember guys, just because a player is stupidly overpriced, doesn’t make them a great player. Want Rafa to be making big signings for massive fees, but only for the right players. I don’t want him signing players just for the sake of spending, which quite a few clubs have done imo.

Newcastle are hoping to sign defender Marlon on loan from Barcelona before the 5 o’clock deadline – but need to obtain a work permit for the 22-year-old Brazilian.

We @bbcnewcastle understand there’s no truth in reports linking #NUFC with a move for Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck

Surely it’s impossible to name the worst team ‘on paper’ in the league – so many clubs have so many new players and no one knows for sure how they’ll adjust to the EPL.

Is it worse than Brighton’s squad? Was Watford’s squad better than Swansea’s last season? It’s about how they play as a team, how they’re managed and how the new players step up (or don’t).

I do agree that we’re in trouble with a couple of injuries – especially in defence – but what else is new?
