Mark Lawrenson has come out with his prediction for tomorrow’s Newcastle game at Cardiff.
And he sees the same score as Paul Merson does – a 1-1 draw.
In his comments, he thinks Newcastle will not have any trouble this season, but it’s a different story for newly promoted Cardiff City managed by Neil Warnock.
They are favorites to be relegated this season.
BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson – predicts a 1-1 draw
This is what Lawrenson has said about the game tomorrow:
“I thought Cardiff would put up a little bit more resistance than they did in their defeat at Bournemouth on the opening weekend.”
“But what happened there has probably given them an indication of the gulf between the Championship and the Premier League.”
“I would expect Neil Warnock’s side to make things a lot more difficult for Newcastle in their first home game back in the top flight, though.”
“And the Bluebirds fans will play a part too – they have to, because Cardiff’s home form is going to play a huge role in their survival fight.”
“I cannot see many goals in this, but the dynamic between the two managers is going to be great to watch because Warnock and Magpies boss Rafael Benitez have a bit of history.”
“Newcastle also lost their first game of the season, at home to Tottenham, but they put in a decent performance and I don’t see them struggling this season.”
“Cardiff are a different story, though.”
“Predicton 1-1 draw.”
Our fans seem confident we can win this game and if we can win it would be an excellent result for us and lift the mood a little with the fans.

Comment #1Tramp (as per post in last article) You’ve got it in one. Warnock is attempting to ingratiate himself in the hopes that he might be throwing his hat in the ring if/when Raffa leaves at the end of the season.

Comment #2So early in the season I wouldn’t say this is as big a match as it could potentially be later. Hopefully get the 3 points else we should be bottom by end of September.

Comment #3Something tells me there will be freakish goals in favor of Cardiff and NUFC will lose 3-0 despite complete dominance of the Bluebirds. It’s going to be 0-5 or 0-6 before NUFC get an unlikely point. Then it will settle down.

Comment #4Why are people under the imnpression that we can’t beat Chelsea and Arsenal at home? They’re both in transition, both with new managers and we played well against both teams twice last season.
Granted, City away is about as tough as it gets but the other 3 matches from the next 4 could see us push into mid table.

Comment #6Awful awful team to play against. I watched them last season on a number of occasions, probably the most direct team I’ve seen in years.

Comment #7The man’s an idiot, i don’t think he likes Newcastle. Im worried when he says we won’t struggle this season, he usually has us nailed on for the drop!

Comment #8It may not be illegal, but it’s totally immoral.
