Benitez Gives Tips To Youngsters Playing In Big Games

The Newcastle U23 team will play Sunderland U23s St James’ Park tonight.

This is now the next best we have for the Tyne-Wear derby because it will be at least two more seasons before the Black Cats can move up from League One back into the Premier League.

We hope they can do that quickly because both of the top two north-east clubs should be in the Premier League – it’s got to be good for the area.

The Premier League 2 clash will kickoff this evening at 7:00pm, and there could be a good crowd to watch the game.

Ben Dawson – Newcastle U23 coach

This is what Rafa has said about the game as reported in the Chronicle:

“What I always say to players involved in an important game like is to stay calm.”

“I know that the passion is there but you have to compete.”

“You have to remember it is football and it means a lot to a lot of people.”

“But you still have to do things in the right way.”

“You have to give everything and show passion, but at the same time you have to play your football.”

“You have to win games with passion and game intelligence.” “So you have to find this balance.”

“We talk with Ben Dawson all the time.”

“Some of the members of my staff go but we will try to see if we can get even closer in some games.”

We would expect players like Jamie Sterry, Callum Roberts, Sean Longstaff,  and Freddie Woodman to play tonight.

It could be that these players will be sent out on loan before the end of this month to get first team playing time.

And it should be a good game tonight and worth a trip for those who can make it to the game.

Comments welcome.

    The next Mike Williamson,
A good choice for what exactly, keeping us slightly afloat in the PL while raking in Fatty a load of dough and advertising?

Sorry state of affairs when a kid who would not get in Chelsea’s 2nd team thinks he’s top man at the toon, they seem not to care a jot if they keep giving the ball away, it infuriates everyone.

i also think people should lay off kenedy. guys like him cant produce magic every week. robert and hba were useless half the time. the other half theyd win the game single handedly

Brendan Rogers is complaining about having limited transfer funds at Celtic, why would he come here and have exactly the same problem? It’s frightening to think who would come as any decent manager with ambition will not come here, it will be someone who is available for nowt like Allerdyce, Pardew who will be content to try to keep the team up while raking in his wages

    The next Mike Williamson,
A decent choice for what though, certainly not to bring us success, If Fatty doesn’t want success with Rafa why is he going to lavish millions on Rodgers first choice targets. He’ll have his hands tied like every other manager.

It is actually hilarious how fans can turn on somebody so quickly after such a performance. He was one of the players most people were shouting about to sign permanently regardless if costing 20-25M+ as he made such a positive impact last season yet he is now garbage and should be shipped back to Chelsea apparently. He is a young player who has quality yet due to his inexperience will not bring with him consistency.

Will likely be hailed as the best player in the team in a few weeks when he hits a screamer in from 25yds!

    Nufc-83,
You cannot judge the average Newcastle fan based on the lunatic asylum comments you get from the illiterate RUNAWAY777, catchy, kimbo etc. They have serious emotional issues that they ought really to seek help about.

We might hit very lucky and get a Pochetino, Like Pochetino he would be off after a season to the first decent offer from a properly run club.

Excellent news if there’s no retrospective action. Our squad is light enough as it is. I was thinking Rafa was going to have to deploy Joselu on the wing.

taken a break from work, if that is ok with you.

your beef is with Ashley, and rightly so for obvious reasons, but why do you not see Rafas short comings too?, your logic says that you should walk out if P45 was sacked, if JOKE in Ear was sacked, Shteve was sacked.

The only manager who I think worked well with what he had and never complained was CH, Rafa gets to chose his targets, whether they come or not is not always in the clubs hands, and again this is only my opinion, RAFA has bought loads of duds, more poor players than good ones.. thats no reflection on his coaching abilities, more down to his judgements on player.

why does it bother you what a player costs?, UNLESS you pay silly money for the very top players, most of the others are just chancers cashing in on premiership money.

anyway, Rafa cost us points just as much as Hayden and Kennedy, he gambled on Manquilio and had his pants taken down for it, Sterry might have been a better choice. playing a 352 with kennedy and Ritchie as wing backs could have been an option, but his choice was flat out wrong, then replacing him with Hayden just compounded his first mistake.

Any manager worth his salt would be wasting his time coming here as long as Ashley reigns supreme, me personally, I would like to see Steve Gerrard under new management. hated him as a player but give credit where it’s due he looks to be shaping rangers into a decent outfit, looks to be doing the right things and think he will come out on top in the 2 horse race.

Kenedy wasn’t yellow carded for the incident. So he can still face retrospective action. I still can’t believe he didn’t send Harry Arter off to be honest. That was a blatant red card.

    Rafa get’s it wrong, yes.

But Rafa has made us hard to beat. Last year we overachieved because of Rafa. He gets the best out of not so godd players. He’s his own worst enemy in a way. Ashley just has to pay him 6 million a year, make a 25 million profit from transfers and we’ll stay up.

hibbit, I couldn’t agree more. He’s got off on a technicality and needs to take a breath and have a word with himself so it doesn’t happen again.

Someone mentioned he should get the number of JonJo’s counsellor. It may not be a bad idea. I’m sure he can afford it.

Even JonJo just taking him under his wing may help the lad. I never thought I’d be saying that 12 months ago….

Pardews team regularly got turned over by 4 or 5 goals, Saturday was nowhere near the worst, the worst premier team of all time (Derby) took 4 points of us in that record season those 2 games were far worse

Listening to the march on 5 Live, the commentators really laboured the point about Kenedy’s tackle as though trying to drive the FA to look at it and serve a ban.

On the flip side, the pundits didn’t have too much to say about Cardiff’s questionable play or the Spurs players’ dirty play last weekend

What’s good for the goose doesn’t seem to be good for the gander where we’re involved

Far from the worst team performance, but as far as individual performances go Kenedy is up there for his stinker.

The stat that he didn’t complete a single pass is a shocker…
