Good News – Yedlin Fit For Chelsea Challenge

Rafa has now finished his press conference for the home game against Chelsea on Sunday, and the good news is that DeAndre Yedlin is now fit although his deputy last week Javier Manquillo is still a little doubtful for the game.

Rafa has said the new signings are now fitter than they were, and some are closer to being in the starting eleven, but we’ll have to see which eleven Rafa picks on Sunday afternoon – in a game that is being broadcast live on TV around the world.

Rafa Benitez – at his press conference

Here’s some of what Rafa has said today at the Benton Training grounds:

“Yedlin is fine. Manquillo is better than we were expecting but we have to assess him. A couple of players have little things too, but we will check on them in training.”

“Everything went against us last weekend, the red card and the penalty, but that is football.”

“I spoke with Kenedy. His confidence is still good. He has been training well.”

“It was a bad experience, but it can be a good experience for him.”

“They (new signings) are fitter and closer now. Maybe on Sunday one of them might start, but we will wait and decide.”

“We are trying to maximize what we have in our squad. We know we are short in some areas, but you can improve by coaching.”

“It is easier to buy what you need to solve it, but we need to do it with coaching now.”

That’s interesting that Rafa is trying to plug the holes in the squad with some coaching – so maybe he’s trying out people in the full-back positions, as one example?

It’s going to be a tough game on Sunday, but with some luck, we can still get the win and make it five wins in the last six home league games against Chelsea.

Big hint there, I reckon there’ll be at least one of the new lads starting Sunday, big question is who?

I’ve always said that BIG MO jumps like an elephant.

Wyn Davies, Jackie Milburn, two best ever.

Note his elbows weren’t up in the air, like some so called experts that could never head va ball say you have to do.

    Moonraker 15 earlier thread
When it comes to money, Ashley has a skin as thick as a Rhino, you can sing and chant all the insults you want outside S D but as long as you hand Ashley your hard earned cash at the turnstiles after the protest, Ashley won’t give a stuff.
This may not be the best example but I will give it a go, Take a look at the great service Wenger gave to Arsenal over the years but once the fans didn’t like what you were seeing, they voted with their feet, the home gates dropped by 10% and eventually the Arsenal board had to act. If Wenger had won only 1 trophy over the space of 22yrs at NUFC he still would have been looked upon as a God on Tyneside.
