Newcastle Move One More Player Out Of The Club

27-year-old Henri Saivet has finally joined Bursaspor in Turkey on loan for the season, so hopefully, he will be off the clubs wage bill for another year.

Saivet has only played 6 first team games since he joined Newcastle from Bordeaux for £5M in January 2016, when Steve McClaren was still the manager.

It’s another very poor acquisition by Newcastle and Rafa has not used the central midfielder since the Spaniard arrived on Tyneside.

Henri Saivet – after scoring at West Ham last season

Saivet has three years still to run on his five and a half year contract so we will be trying to loan him out each summer to get him off the wage bill.

Maybe we can get a permanent deal for him before the summer of 2021?

The 22 times capped Senegal International spent the second half of last season on loan at Sivasspor in Turkey.

He passed his medical late last week, so this loan signing was expected.

We now have to offload Rolando Aarons and Achraf Lazaar before the end of the month.

Well, that stinks about Shelvey being out for up to 3 weeks after picking up a knock in training. I did have another line-up drafted for Bingo, but here’s my changes.

    Dubravka
    Yedlin Lascelles Clark Dummett
    Diame Ki SY
    Ritchie Perez Murphy
Joselu (I wish he would start Rondon, but I don’t think he will)

I have a sneaking suspicion that Fernandez might slot in for Yedlin, or for Clark and push Clark out to Yedlin’s spot.

    All becomes clear
Dig and Catchy obviously avidly follow the internet rumour machine
I’ve said it before – I’ll say it again – social media has a lot to answer for

    Anyway some real history

That the future Senator McCain was actually in his jet’s cockpit at that time makes for a great conspiracy, theory. There were other pilots in their jets, also, but there isn’t a shred of controversy about them, which should be a red flag that the published “stories” are nothing but a smear campaign against a vocal critic of our exalted Great Pumpkin.
So, taking two very important issues to heart here, the fact that the Navy literally made itself out to be the bad guy, and the fact that the current blame is targeted at a specific person who was but one of several on deck at the time, should tell you that these stories are meant to vilify one of the President’s congressional critics.
    ****************************************************

    Jib, well said.
The board of enquiry into that never mentioned John McCain as far as I can see.
As for Song Bird. If I had been captured with broken limbs and tortured 3 times a week for 3 years I think I would of been a Song Bird alright.
Was he. Who knows but I would not blame him if he was.

    Never dull supporting the Toon
If true Rafa kept Shelvey’s problems
well under wraps and the local journos
    must have played ball.

The Strawberry car park. You say it was owned by the club.
Great but who owns the club. Last time I checked it was MA.
The Strawberry gate thing is a side show. Folks like to debate it for no particular reason.

You did not mention the point I posed. What could you use it for ?

Also, what did he get for it 2/3 million.
We are not talking 30/40 million here.

I really don’t think it matters.

Concerned re the toon now. Losing shelvey was always going to be the key issue for us and looking at some of the other teams and how they have spent and developed, worries me. We look one dimensional creatively (shelvey playing quarter back) and Rafa has generally been far better at teaching teams to be compact and defend, rather than as an attacking unit. If rondon is fit (as he surely is at this stage) he has to play, irrespective of Rafa’s obsession with players learning his approach?

    Somebody mentioned Adama Traore.
Think we would have signed him but it was conditional upon Ritchie leaving.
10-12 million in and 18 million spent.
Think it is clear to all. We have a 23 player squad. 3 goalies and each outfield positioned covered twice.
Hence without Gayle going we would not have had Rondon.
    Makes for slow progress.

At least if Shelvsz out it may change our game enough to bamboozle the other team. Perhaps we can play and inverted 352 set up like this:-

    ————Dubrawka————
    —–Lacelles—-Dummet—-
    Yedlin–Ki–Longstaff–Diame–richie
    —–Muto–Rondon—Perez

Push up high, leave dummet as a sweeper, Jamal winning the long balls Chelsea will have to play coz no one gets more than 2 seconds on the ball from the swarming press. Then fast short – medium passes round the midfield with plenty of throughballs and second ball winning and hey presto, 8-0 the toon. All scored by Muto.

Oh so Shelvey is out? Big loss.

would’ve liked to see him and Ki start today, Diame need another wakeup call from what we’ve seen so far this season.

I’d revert to our counter-attacking, swarming tactics that served us so well 2nd half of last season

    ______________Dubravka____________
    Yedlin___Lacelles_____Clark___Dummett
    _________Diame_____Ki
    Ritchie_________Perez________Murphy
    ______________Muto

High energy, high pressing, aggression, get the crowd behind us early and rattle mistakes out of them.

Looks like Rafa is being crafty suggesting he will see what money is released for players in January before deciding whether to stay.
Well I’m pretty sure that Ashley will be forced to spend, as we could we’ll be struggling by then and Ashley can’t afford another relegation.
An insight into the crazy business sense of MA; had he invested say £60 million to build on Rafa’s success, we would be looking at a top 8 place and Rafa would’ve signed an extension. But no, it has to be run on a freakin shoestring! I wonder if Rafa is free to consider job offers after January as in players contracts? If so I can see him walking if no investment in January.
One of the problems we have at Newcastle is Carsley. If he was to leave it could change the dynamics of the club as Rafa is just wasting his time talking to him as he’s Ashley’s shield. Carsley OUT !

In the last game of last season we were in
Chelsea’s face from the off. They had an
FA cup final the following week.
Different approach needed this time round
methinks if we are to get anything from this
    encounter.

Chelsea have a different style under Sarri. They will be unsure as still working on the new system resulting in defensive uncertainty. We have to chase them down and not give them a minute’s peace on the ball. Rafa will pack the midfield with 1 up top, hopefully Rondon!
Howay the Lads give us another day to remember and let us all get behind the team!

Injuries ruined Michael Owen and Kieron Dyer. Alan Shearer also lost something after breaking his ankle but still was a top player. Knee injury ruined Del Piero too he was never the same. Brazilian Ronaldo had bad knee injuries but wasnt too bad. Affects players differently. Asprilla got ruined from his hernia injury. If only injuries wasn’t a thing.

I think the strength of the team at the moment is a concern A lot of teams that were mixing it with us last season look stronger than us at the moment, with the tough games coming up it may not be a bad idea to try something new, my biggest concern is how quickly we can get Lejeune back and most important, will he be the same player?, it’s vital we get him back along side Lasselles ASAP and plug the gaps We need a big performance from Dieme and Ritchie today I just hope everyone turns up because against Cardiff it looked we were still in preseason mode.

So where are we in the injury table, 3 key players down in the first 3 games, Yedlin (hopefully fit again) Lejeune (anything up to 6 months) and now Shelvey (3weeks?) we’ll be doing well to pick up any points in the next few games.
The new lads really are going to have to step up!!

The point I was trying to make, albeit not very well, was that whilst the Strwberry car-park land was an asset of the football club which as you rightly say is owned by MA, that land need not have been sold for short term gain. As is evidenced by the proposed property development, the value of the club could have used it for that or some other development and adding value to Newcastle United rather than one of Ashley’s businesses profiting from it.
