Newcastle Fans Take To Twitter After Massive Disappointment

Newcastle fans took to Twitter tonight after we played very poorly at Nottingham Forest and lost 3-1 with 3 goals coming in stoppage time.

Rafa didn’t seem happy after the match and he again thought the refereeing was poor.

But we had only one shot on target and we will need to work on our counter-attacks if we are to defend for long stretches of our games this season.

It’s been a poor start and our next two games are tough against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Oh well – this seems to be another very difficult season for the club – so no change there.

Rafa Benitez on the touchline tonight

The big problem with Ashley’s model is there’s no margin for error and so a Rafa quality manager is imperative because anything less then the size of the mistakes will always be setting you back to square one. I believe in Rafa, even under Ashley, but realistically he needs to generate more money himself for the club and the side by scouting well and preparing the side well and finishing as high up the league as possible because he won’t be helped by the owner unless it’s to save his investment. Hardest job in football it’s traditionally said. Never more so than under this owner. I think Rafa likes the fact he’s paid well, is largely left alone and has the backing of the fans and the players, but he can’t be under any illusions about the size of the job.

Jimiley – Who is this new manager Ashley will get if RAFA goes? Nobody in their right mind will want the job under this regime.
Nicky I think the pressure is showing . Two heavy defeats against City & Arsenal may well push him over the edge & he may decide to throw the towel in. Would he walk away from £6M , I don’t know

So your post at 21 on last thread. Would I be right to assume then that your main issue with Rafa is transfer related/off field/player handling issues rather than results on the pitch overall?

Rafa backs his process. He’ll ride this out, and we’ll be okay. He’ll re-sign if Ashley guarantees a reasonably timely flow of assets to the pitch I think – which, of course, is no sure thing, possibly far from it.

Further thing I want to ask. My previous question was whether it was ott to call for his sacking after meeting expectations for two years, your response was you would have sacked him at the end of last season . I’m taking that as a no it’s not ott lol and you’d sack him for meeting season expectations. This is just for clarification for me as I try to understand where you come from.

Couldn’t feel more vindicated about not wasting my time blog commenting, yes I know I’ve broken my duck ha ha but the wholesale incursion of idiocy and the obvious manipulation of fan sentiment against Benitez is shocking and shameful to witness.

Sorry but you are all being harangued by blatant shills and keep getting up to take more of the same beating. This is Bishops front line – honestly they aren’t stupid. There’s no sale, there’s no groundswell of opposition to the manager, the only truth is that Ashley is going to hang on to this money printing machine for his entire life, play percentages and manipulate the fans/customers expectations, social media like this is his media division’s playground.

Take a tip – stand back for a week or two and scan through the posts you’ll see it plain as day.

Have to disagree though the style of containing and defence first over attack isn’t getting out of style. The world champions France won using this style under deschamps, even getting criticised earlier in the tournament for it. One of my current favourite teams to watch is atletico Madrid, they have the players to make the system work very well.

Fans on here will start to question Rafa more and more and that’s probably a good thing, in terms of rational football analysis anyway. For the good of the club he needs to, but the question of fairly dull football, subs and average transfer market work will remain, to my mind anyway. I hope he turns it around but muto looks like a questiontionable use of 10 mill and ksy looks like a nothing player so far. Let’s not blame Ashley for poor performances against clubs who have players on the pitch who are worse than ours. We shud be able to defeat teams like forest. Very worrying. Hopefully there are no player issues behind the scenes.

Nope it probably looks like it but I’m not back. This place has half a dozen idiots being prodded on by professionally sponsored goaders with the aim of softening up the fans to perennial ownership by Ashley and the intent to carry on churning through managers. It’s going to be a long desperate slot supporting nufc under this and I’m not wasting any more time getting amongst this PR tank battle. Does my head in.

I don’t think there’s much to be gained by criticising Rafa’s tactics so early in the season considering his achievements over a hugely substantial career. You can only probably fairly criticise him if he fails to deliver points and only then once the dust has settled and only then in consideration of the hand he’s been dealt.

Good to see you back Tsunki..
Well going out the cup to lowly opposition playing a very weakened team ..did we expect anything other ? really?
Rafa is playing all he is dealt . We are thread bare due to neglect so another injury could be catastrophic for the season.
3 weeks in and only goal is once again survival but lets blame rafa eh ? pr@cks!
First stream following the game obviously had catchy front and center did we expect anything other ? really?

How long are the numpties going to defend rafa? This performance was shocking. It was a footballing disaster against Chelsea but this to Forest was just. Ridiculous.

Rafa tactics are garbage. Seems to have lost the players. Captain has started questioning him. Rafa is not what he used to be. He is no Sean dyche or Howie.

Rafa needs to go. A better manager with these players will be able to atleast get us to compete. Right now we can’t even compete in the championship side.

Well. We got hammered today right? I told you the tactics at Chelsea was a complete disaster and fools like you were defending it. We got nothing from it, and our shi* tactics got nothing today as well.

This whole club is an entire shambles.

The useless supporters on the ground only know 1 song and that is singing for Benetiz. Where the F* are the songs of our club city and for the players?

Just so sick of them with your “rafa rafa rafa” stupid chants.

As for rafa’s salary, he is around the 8th highest paid manager in the PL.

Did he earn his salary the year we won the Championship and promotion?
Did he earn it last year finishing safely away from relegation and with some exciting wins against ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea?
Will he earn it this year?

So if we look at our start to this season, how many people would realistically expect us to have more than 3 points after the first 5 games? Maybe 4 at best?

But we will probably have what we should on paper.

A little unlucky perhaps not to have more, but I agree that when being over-defensive, which Rafa was against Chelsea, it is hard to make your own luck – but we almost still did.

So what is it? Do you just want Rafa out so a new manager might play a more open style more pleasing to the eye but you don’t care if the results don’t come with it. If so, Just replace Rafa with Carlos Carvalhal and see where we end up.

I don’t think rafa is beyond criticism. I think he should have allowed more players to try to get forward against Chelsea but unfortunately we couldn’t even string two passes together most of that match. I think he deserves criticism for his handling of Mbabu, Mitro, Mbemba. But you won’t even acknowledge what he has done well for us. You never wanted rafa here, you want him gone, that’s clear, but even you won’t call for him to get the sack. You say he should quit, why should he quit when he sees a job to do here and his track record so far is good?

I think you just are picking on Rafa as an easy target right now given the run of results to start the season, when any of the so-called experts would have us just about where we are.
