Newcastle Very Poor Tonight At Nottingham Forest – Lose 3-1 With 3 Goals In Stoppage Time

It’s the same old story and Newcastle are out of the League Cup at the very first attempt beaten by Nottingham Forest 3-1 on a poor night for Newcastle United – a night to forget.

With 3,000 fans traveling to Nottingham for tonight’s game, Newcastle were very poor and it was easily the worst performance of the season.

The game didn’t start well for Newcastle and we were 1-0 down after only two minutes through former Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy.

And Forest continued to dominate the game in the first half but it was still 1-0 at the half, but there was not much change in our fortunes when play resumed in the second half.

And the next goal wasn’t until two minutes into injury time and it was the first goal at Newcastle for new signing Salomon Rondon – a good goal for the Venezuelan – and it looked like it would go to penalties.

But then two minutes later Cash scored for the home side and it was 3-1 a short three minutes later with a good goal from Bastiao Dias – as Newcastle collapsed

So we are out of the League Cup the same way we went out last year at this time – the second round – with a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest after extra time.

This is now three defeats in four games and our only point came at Cardiff City in a 1-1 draw when we missed a last-gasp penalty.

Rafa made 7 changes to the side and had injured players Shelvey, Lascelles, Manquillo, and Ritchie out – but we should have done a lot better against a well-organized Forest side.

Former Newcastle player Daryl Murphy congratulated after his second-minute goal

Newcastle had very few shots in this game and we only showed any real urgency when stoppage time started when Salomon Rondon scored after he had just replaced Joselu.

But then Newcastle went back to concede two goals in the four minutes to ensure we have made another terrible start to Cup competitions this season.

When will it ever end?

Newcastle now need to quickly get our act together before we face Manchester City away and Arsenal at home in our next two games.

Sean Longstaff had a decent game and that was one of the few positives coming out of this game – but it yet another horrendous performance in a Cup tie by Newcastle.

Wonder if we can beat Manchester City on Saturday to make up for this – otherwise, it could be four defeats in the first five games this season.

🙁

Fair enough, let’s just ignore the players putting up no fight or effort. You even said yourself the other day that the only good players we have is dubravka, shelvey and possibly kenedy I think it was. None of them played apart from kenedy, but less said about that the better. So if you’re admitting our team is average, why you complaining about bad performances?

Darlow and Atsu aren’t doing much for themselves or the side, Manqillo, Hayden, Kenedy too, and Ki and Muto yet to settle. Shelvey missing. It’s a modest group of players to pick from right now.

Please tell me why so many people on here make negative comments on here and ask for manager to be sacked after 4 games fans stick with teams through thick and thin we have had tough start but did we expect anything from first 3 games I didn’t think we would have any points especially seen as it was Cardiff’s 1St game back in premier league so having 1point is a bonus it will get better but end of the day he has a poor squad with a few good players but if you shop in aldi you get sh*t

I hope Longstaff has a backup career because it doesn’t look like pro footballer is for him.

That was a rank rotten performance. The current problems we’re facing were so predictable pre season. We’ve got no quality in the final third and no goal threat.

Common sense from CTommo ,Moonraker & Bri. We’ve gotta get real as at the moment it’s same old same old. In all honesty can’t see Rafa, Lascelles & Ritchie staying after Xmas. Why would they the Top Six will walk this league again & all the time they are getting richer and richer and just using lower teams as their feeder clubs. The game’s gone.

    Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez:
“I don’t agree that Forest were the better team and I’m not concerned by how we played.
We did not create many chances so we need to improve in attack and keep working hard.
It’s a long season, we need it was going to be hard but we have confidence in ourselves.”

Well you bloody well should be concerned.

Rafa – we’ve heard this record so many times before over the last 10 years or more.
Please don’t you start playing it.

No shot on goal till Rondon’s great finish but can’t see where the goals in enough numbers will come from this season. Too many lightweights & Clark certainly can’t play at FB

please quote the whole thing and not just your cherry picked version.

I said those where our 3 best players, the rest are average PREMIERSHIP players. premiership being the key word.

is that all you have to say? come on to have a dig at me? wow.

it’s a very sad thing to say, but i’m now believing that you can only defend Rafa just to have a go at me. i mean there is no logic as to why people keep defying him.
if i say black you say white if i say blue you say red, i say i love women, you will say you love men . lmao ?

you say you like football and you defended Pardew, and now you defend Rafa who are anti football.

no one can answer me what style we play. what is our game plan. but you can tell me to just be quiet ?

    i will tell you.

4411. sit very tight, pump long balls for 70 mins then start making like for like subs, just for the sake of it..

Looking at RAFA you can tell he’s battle weary. He should just walk out on FCB & leave him in the myre as no beggar else would want or take the job. If he fails to keep us he’s Cashley’s Get out of Jail Card as he will blame Rafa. Odds on.

Was Rafa a joke last season?

Did he just become a joke on August 11th this season?

Was he sh!te last season and before or just now?

Why should he quit? If he is as bad as you say he is, why doesn’t Ashley sack him? Why call for him to quit? Call for a manager to be sacked.

What is it that you want?
