Newcastle Very Poor Tonight At Nottingham Forest – Lose 3-1 With 3 Goals In Stoppage Time

It’s the same old story and Newcastle are out of the League Cup at the very first attempt beaten by Nottingham Forest 3-1 on a poor night for Newcastle United – a night to forget.

With 3,000 fans traveling to Nottingham for tonight’s game, Newcastle were very poor and it was easily the worst performance of the season.

The game didn’t start well for Newcastle and we were 1-0 down after only two minutes through former Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy.

And Forest continued to dominate the game in the first half but it was still 1-0 at the half, but there was not much change in our fortunes when play resumed in the second half.

And the next goal wasn’t until two minutes into injury time and it was the first goal at Newcastle for new signing Salomon Rondon – a good goal for the Venezuelan – and it looked like it would go to penalties.

But then two minutes later Cash scored for the home side and it was 3-1 a short three minutes later with a good goal from Bastiao Dias – as Newcastle collapsed

So we are out of the League Cup the same way we went out last year at this time – the second round – with a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest after extra time.

This is now three defeats in four games and our only point came at Cardiff City in a 1-1 draw when we missed a last-gasp penalty.

Rafa made 7 changes to the side and had injured players Shelvey, Lascelles, Manquillo, and Ritchie out – but we should have done a lot better against a well-organized Forest side.

Former Newcastle player Daryl Murphy congratulated after his second-minute goal

Newcastle had very few shots in this game and we only showed any real urgency when stoppage time started when Salomon Rondon scored after he had just replaced Joselu.

But then Newcastle went back to concede two goals in the four minutes to ensure we have made another terrible start to Cup competitions this season.

When will it ever end?

Newcastle now need to quickly get our act together before we face Manchester City away and Arsenal at home in our next two games.

Sean Longstaff had a decent game and that was one of the few positives coming out of this game – but it yet another horrendous performance in a Cup tie by Newcastle.

Wonder if we can beat Manchester City on Saturday to make up for this – otherwise, it could be four defeats in the first five games this season.

Surely people must realise attacking players cost big money that’s why we have to play defensive as we couldn’t afford these players
If Rafa goes this club is doomed who the hell is out there to take over

Rafa gave Forest there pre matchbteam talk by parking the buss on sunday, it’s says he does not trust his players.

then hearing about what’s going on with Lascelles and others, our club is in a big big mess

My bad catchy. It wasnt cherry picked, it was at the top of my head, wasn’t about to go look for that post. Was the third player you said kenedy? I’m certain the first two were dubravka and shelvey.

Would you say Rafa overachieved with the team last season?

Watching the debate on a sky, fair comments by Steve Howey and mentioning all, Warburton also in support which is good to see. Bellamy I really want to disagree with but he’s made some good points! “Stop going and make the difference!” Fans need to realise that going is doing more harm then good! I agree but easy for me to say in Cumbria.
Poor performance again tonight, i have never been a huge Rafa fan but acknowledge he is the best we’ve had for awhile, but in my opinion way to defensive and needs to let the shackles off and trust his players.

Catchy apart from : Shelvey, Lascelles , Dubravna & Kennedy (who isn’t our player) and maybe Ritchie , the rest are at best average Championship players. Rafa worked the oracle last season to get a 10th place position & Cashley was understandably over the moon with it. BUT he is not a magician & can’t be expected to do it every season without suitable reinvestment in the squad.

I never thought I would agree with the withdrawal of support but perhaps 52000 empty seats in SJP every home match would bring the message home to FCB., especially if the 52000 congregated outside to voice their support for ASHLEY OUT

I stopped going 4 years ago because of Ashley. Its the only way to get him out. Very sad after 50 years but I made my own stand.Got dogs abuse for it but some are starting to see the light. Leave the ground to Ashley and Mr Wise. Get relegated but STAY relegated. Ashley does not mind relegation. Thats when he invests to get us back up straight away. If the ground is half empty and we do not get promoted he will sell for 150 million. He cannot advertise his tat in a half empty ground in the Championship. Too embarrassing. It is simple really but you have to stay away until he goes. He loves mug punters who will take any old rubbish he serves up. Its what has made him a billionaire. But I am no masochist for him.

I could have digested to loose if we would have atleast tried to win.
As it is now, it doesnt even hurt when we loose to Nottingham. Its getting all too familiar.
Benitez is so occupied by shoring up that the players seems they have lost every single offencive fiber in their minds.
Cant see where the goals to save us will come. Joselu has surprised in a positive way with 2 goals, but its not like you sence something when hes near the ball. Hes not a Shearer. Nor do I think Rondon seems nowhere close to that standards.
Im not too excited by Benitez buys either, and hes brought in quite a few in the last years. You may say that hes been working on peanuts. But he has been pretty accurate on picking s.h.i.t.e players too, instead of banging it all on ONE player that could have lifted the team.
