We play at Manchester City in the late game tomorrow in the Premier League and this – on paper at least – will be our toughest league fixture of the season.
It seems certain that Rafa will again play five at the back, and with Jamaal Lascelles likely still out injured, the back five will be unchanged from the Chelsea game.
Yedlin Schar Fernandez Clark Dummett
Yedlin and Dummett got a rest in the League Cup at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, but this will be the third game in 8 days for the other three players.
But after the game, they have two weeks until we take on Arsenal at home.
Nobody expects us to get anything out of this game tomorrow, so we have nothing to lose.
Fabian Schar – 3rd game in 8 days tomorrow?
That’s probably the best way to look at it – but expect more criticism from those expert pundits if we lose.
And just ignore it – it means nothing – that’s what they do.
Let’s all stick together like last season and support Rafa and the players.

Comment #4I wouldn’t be surprised to see a full strength side put out against Man City—a few miraculous injury comebacks—and the players running through walls for Benitez.
It’s one of those games the impartial punters will not be putting money on.

Comment #5“As awful as Newcastle were to watch (against Chelsea), their approach almost worked and it would be exceptionally naïve to think Benitez will kow-tow to critics, order his players to buckle their swashes, play an expansive game that seems to be beyond their collective skill set against such accomplished opposition and risk getting thrashed. A pragmatist who is trying to make the best use of the limited tools made available to him while working with one hand tied behind his back, Benítez will try and probably fail to come away from the Etihad Stadium with a point.” (Grauniad)

Comment #6Can we get something at the Etihad? Yes, absolutely
Will we get something at the Etihad? Unlikely….
Yet I’ve voted for a win. Whether blind optimism or unmatched foresight, we shall see…
