This Could Be Newcastle’s Best Team To Get Something At The Etihad

Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie are still injured and will not play tomorrow at the Etihad Stadium.

And Isaac Hayden will be serving the last of his three-match ban and will be available for our next game in two weeks at home to Arsenal.

We’re sure Rafa will again play five at the back and Jamaal Lascelles is available – so we think Rafa could leave Fabian Schar out of the side to make way for the captain.

That’s tough on Fabian and maybe Rafa will keep the same back five from last Saturday – since they did so well in that game.

It would not be a huge surprise if Rafa keeps the same back five as last week and has Lascelles on the bench.

Jamaal Lascelles – could return tomorrow

Here’s the side we think Rafa will choose for the game at Manchester City tomorrow in a 4-5-1 formation:

Dubravka
Yedlin Lascelles (c) Fernandez Clark Dummett
Atsu Ki Diame Kenedy
Rondon

Rondon looked good in the short time he was on the pitch and scored a nice goal to open his account at Newcastle.

On the right wing, the greater experience of Christian Atsu should win him the starting position over Jacob Murphy – in Matt Ritchie’s absence.

We hope Kenedy on the left wing can get into this game tomorrow.

What’s your team for tomorrow afternoon?

Three in four fans think we will lose this game.

“Weshie – pssst, 2-2 is a draw, mate.”

And Rondon couldn’t score a hat trick with a 2-2 scoreline. Come on, even the Welsh WUM is allowed a sense of humour now and again. I thought it was his best post ever.

Welshie’s not the best counter. He was told to count sheep when he couldn’t sleep but only got to five and had to stop for a Barclays.

Here’s that sage mastermind Jamie Jackson of the Guardian’s 11 v City.

    …………………Dubravka..
    ….Yedlin Fernandez Scharr Dummett.
    …………………….Ki…
    …………Atsu ………….Diame..
    Perez………………………………Kenedy….
    ………………….Rondon….

WTF sort of team is that. An LSD inspired one I’m thinking.

    Dear me.

    Rafa bingo…

    Dúbravka
    Yedlin Lascelles Fernández Schär Dummet
    Murphy Diamé Ki Kenedy
    Rondón

Moonraker, I’ve got Schär instead of Clark; that’s more hopeful than expected.

    Bobby
25/1 sounds like a decent bet but man that’s a long long shot. I’ve got 15 on a draw, 9/1.

Also a long shot but far more likely. If we do the double decker thing, like vs Chelsea, we may get something. A win is a near impossibility…

    But I admire your guts.

Although Muto didn’t set the world alight v Forest, I do think he is a perfect player for Shelvey, if he was allowed to operate a bit more directly. Been a while since we had a forward with pace.

Decent game that. Best attack meets the best defence – a draw was the only possible outcome – 0-0.

Don’t worry, I’m not putting the house on it, but 25/1 has to be worth a couple of quid of anybody’s money. 🙂 Stranger things have happened and for a couple of quid you can celebrate the win for nowt. Not worth serious money but come on, 25’s in a two horse race where anything could happen? If I was Rafa I’d stick that on the dressing room wall in big letters. There’s his team talk.

Yep, must be at least a month since we, and by we I mean Rafa, got rid of Gayle!

Gayle pushed on and gave Kenedy more space and time to be effective. You don’t get that with Joselu, everything is in front of the defence, there’s no stretch.

I don’t have a hatred of Rafa, I just hate the blind following. You are probably the worst for it. Rafa can do no wrong, anyone who says otherwise is a blasphemer.
It’s frankly ridiculous. He makes some right balls ups and should be called on them.
What we need is a decent Director of Football that Ashley trusts. He clearly doesn’t trust Rafa with his cash

So moussa dembele is off to Lyon for a reported £18m. When the average transfer in the summer for premie league clubs was £16m, £18m is not bad at all. We were never going to be in for him though, £17,999,999.99 too expensive for Ashley’s taste… unless you’re a high street shop.

Im guessing youve been living up a tree somewhere for the last decade so ill fill you in on the current situation at the toon

Our owner had over the last decade lied on every bled the club dry,our current squad is just about worth 1 world class player, thats all 21 players we have.

In every instance he has lied and decived for the single purpose of profiting from us while making himself ritch, were just another example of his greed

To claim its some how not his fault is bordering on the insane

In the last 11 years we have had every lie possible and in that time every single person in the club has changed, but some how MA isnt to blame for the utter exploitation of us and his utter contempt to the club the fans and the regieon

But hey im sure he pays well to fill the blog with utter tosh in his favor

If the manager had of been backed, as promised and we were shite then he deserves all the criticism fired his way. He wasn’t and that’s well documented. It’s bad enough hearing cretins like Wise, Keys and Gray spouting their shite without hearing it from so called fans of the club.

But since his arrival he has somehow saved us against a wall off people who he hired and with his help are somehow held back from competing for whatever by people he trusted but was let down

We have had a decade of lies

You would have to some how lived up a tree somewhere to not see it

Jail, Rafa had money to spend just didn’t spend it wisely, so what makes you think if Ashley give Rafa 200 million to spend that they would be better than the ones he signed this summer.

Signed a lot crap players, that’s why they have gone.

You have to be fair here, when you are only allowed to sign players for less than £8m they are going to be bigger gambles than normal. Only 5 times has Rafa been able to buy players over £8m (Ritchie 12m, Gayle 12m, Murphy £10m +2m add ons, Lejuene £8.7m and muto 9.5m). In light of this and forgetting that EVERY manager makes mistakes in the transfer market, do you not think it’s unfair to use this as a stick to beat Rafa with.

Jail/Ancient – it will be interesting to see how far the MP’s call for an investigation actually gets – don’t know if there is any “authority” for probes into private companies. Could the Sports Minister direct the PL/FA to do something.
An obvious danger is that if in the future dodgy practices are discovered – if it could have been looked at now (and is not) someone will have egg on their chin.
So – I think a good start to making it hot for Mr Tubbs.

At the end of the day you’re a footin nobody Swansea fan who took the piss out of us when it looked you were staying up and we were going down, so wtf do you care anyway. We’re three PL games in, the manager has reiterated so many times that business has to be done early. It was sorted very nicely when the owner wanted an instant return to the PL, not so forth coming when he only wants survival.

I do believe they will look at the relationship between SD and the club, and if there is anything amiss, then at that point an investigation would be authorized. It would be a dereliction of duty not to look further into the request. It’s a great start imo.
