On Friday night when Brazil beat a young United States side 2-0 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Newcastle fullback DeAndre Yedlin mocked Brazilian Neymar for diving, as the had done frequently during the World Cup.
It was a light-hearted affair as Yedlin pointed out to the referee Fernando Guerrero the Brazilian dives too much and he appeared to ask the referee “did you watch the World Cup.”
That was after the Brazilian had hit the floor after Yedlin’s challenge in the 22nd minute.
That was light-hearted, but Neymar is picking up a reputation for diving, whenever he’s challenged.
DeAndre Yedlin challenges Neymar on Friday night
But it seems that the Brazilian cannot take anything light-hearted, and the PSG forward responded with this – when he was asked about Yedlin’s comment:
“I don’t have much to say but I feel sorry for him.”
“I don’t know him and so I don’t have any reason to worry about him.”
Couldn’t he think of something classier to say than that?
Apparently not.
The Brazilian is way over-rated and nowhere near the likes of Pele and Ronaldo – former stars of some top Brazilian side.
Pele is still the best player we have ever seen play football.
In the game on Friday night, Roberto Firmino scored after 11 minutes and Neymar scored from the penalty two minutes before half-time after the referee had given a soft penalty when Roberto Firmino was supposedly fouled by Wil Trapp, who plays for the Columbus Crew.
The next game for the US isn’t until Tuesday night when they play Mexico at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
And then the Newcastle fullback will fly back to England to prepare for a tough home game against Arsenal next Saturday afternoon.
