If every game Paul Merson predicts for Newcastle were to be an accurate result, we would be bottom of the league.
Paul rightly predicted last week we would lose to Arsenal 2-1 at home, and for this coming Saturday at Selhurst Park, he thinks we will lose again 1-0 to Crystal Palace.
And if it happens, that would be our fifth defeat in our first six league games, and we could end up rock bottom of the league by Saturday night.
We are currently above only Burnley on goal difference.
Paul Merson – looks like somebody just told him Newcastle would win
This is what Merson has said about the game:
“Palace were very fortunate last week at Huddersfield.”
“Newcastle were a touch unlucky against Arsenal, they were the better team in the first half but as soon as they went behind, wow, they completely and utterly went.”
“From a Newcastle perspective that worries me, I see Palace just edging this one.”
To be fair Paul Merson makes a good point – that the game was over last Saturday once we went 2-0 down and if we keep giving up when we go down in games then disaster could be in the offing for us.
But Rafa will not let that happen, and he has no doubt pointed out to the players this week that the second half performance was nowhere near good enough.
We just have to hope Paul Merson doesn’t get this prediction right too.
Otherwise, we’ll be in trouble and possibly rock bottom of the league.
Only one in three fans thinks we can win this game on Saturday.

Comment #1Let’s hope for more attack, balanced with defence against a powerful running team. Respect where its due, but this ain’t juventus we’re playing.

Comment #3Yes, we lost our way after Arsenal scored, but I think it had as much to do with losing Lascelles at the half and the lack of leadership that resulted.
If Lascelles and Shelvey are both missing again, it will be a massive blow.

Your argument and debating skills are as pathetic as you!
You said it first, my dad’s bigger than yours blah blah blah, no you are, my brothers gonna get you.
Are you a child?
No wonder your lass makes you stay in the house, must be really embarrassing when you throw a hissy fit in the supermarket cos she won’t buy you big boy pants.

Comment #8Nostradamus, an NDA can mean whatever is agreed between two parties. Sometimes it prevents either party from saying anything publicly at all about whatever they’re discussing, other times it can be limited to the details of their discussions, other time sit may be limited to whatever has been discovered during the discussions or anything in between.
Similarly, it can be set for a specific duration or can be designed to last for ever.
Ashley is so private, it’s unlikely he would ask for anything other than a full NDA, though clearly Staveley thought it did not cover her actions during her negotiations with him as she felt comfortable enough to release details of the size and timing of her bids after Ashley accused her of tyre kicking.
