Mike Ashley Issues Personal Statement

Mike Ashley hosted Rafa, the staff and players to an Italian dinner on Wednesday night at the Rialto restaurant in Ponteland.

It was an attempt by Ashley to get on better terms with the playing staff at the club.

When he was leaving the restaurant after what was reported to have been a positive get together – he was met with banners of Ashley Out by fans as the Magpie Group continue their protests against the owner.

As he was leaving the restaurant, it looked like Ashley had given the V sign to the supporters and that was given lots of exposure in the media yesterday.

Mike Ashley – issues statement

Ashley has issued a statement on this on the Newcastle website:

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley would like to put the record straight in relation to press reporting of events following a dinner that he attended on Wednesday evening with Rafa Benítez and the players.

Mike Ashley said:

“I did not make a ‘V-sign’ to anyone. To suggest otherwise is both inaccurate and irresponsible.”

“The matter is in the hands of our legal team and they will be contacting relevant newspaper editors in due course.”

“It is hugely disappointing, given the reason why we set up the meeting, that certain elements of the media are trying to undermine the club by creating a story out of nothing.”

Let’s hope Ashley doesn’t ban elements of the media or some other silly thing he’s done in the past.

On another topic – we hope Newcastle can get something out of the game tomorrow afternoon at Old Trafford, but fans are not very confident.

Clearly it was intended as a Churchillian Victory sign just that Ashley got it the wrong way round.

    Silly mistake really

Definitely an unnatural movement to scratch your neck, the papers have nothing to worry about.
Let’s see how the players respond tomorrow after the meeting with Ashley. Wish we had a David Batty or a Joey Barton in the team to wind the Man U players up

Perhaps a dual nostril pick was underway or just completed? A lot of billionaires pick both nostrils at the same time, it’s how they become so successful, being efficient!

It’s funny how Mike always wants to do the right thing and support the club as soon as fans start to take any action. It’s just more of the same, support the club when it’s in crisis to stop it imploding, but nothing more. If we’re to believe the man, why not listen to his last comments about not being able to take us any further?

Look back at some of the photo’s of fat lad when he was sitting io the crowd at home games next to penfold, Sitting with his hand on the side of his face with 2 fingers raised. Many a time I have said that he was aiming this at the fans who sang at him.
Now that this has been raised recently, I wouldn’t be surprised as he thought that the black glass of the vehicle would have hidden the gesture towards fans again.

The Club is being undermined for sure – by him! Yet another comment coming out that he’s NOT selling, despite the ongoing yes, no, yes, no over his ownership and potential sale.
