Alan has complained there was a clear handball following a Jonjo Shelvey free kick in yesterday’s game at Old Trafford.
It was a blatant penalty so how come referee Anthony Taylor didn’t give it?
Hopefully next season we will have the Virtual Assistant Referee (VAR) in place for the games and these foolish decisions will be taken out of the game.
What were the assistant referees doing?
Alan Shearer – Newcastle should have had a penalty
This is what Alan said on BBC’s Match of the Day last night:
“It was a great game of football – Newcastle were brilliant in the first half. I’m not over it yet!”
“The current perception of this Manchester United team – well Newcastle summed it up.”
“They played Chelsea and Manchester City were quite content to get eleven men behind the ball, sit deep and dig in.”
“They lined up with two up front today and they went after Manchester United.”
“They went straight after them from the first whistle and were very impressive. Manchester United were all over the place – they conceded two goals from throw-ins.”
“It was a different Manchester United in the second half.”
“Anthony Taylor made a terrible decision which was a game-changing decision. It was a clear handball.”
“He doesn’t even look at him, the referee. It’s a clear handball and he doesn’t even look at it.”
“He can’t even give the corner because he’s not looking at it.”
You cannot say the Gods have been on Newcastle’s side this season.
We have had only one penalty so far this term season, but we missed that one and lost 2 points because of it at Cardiff.
All these first eight games are behind us now, and they have been challenging.
But we must look forward to better things ahead
We don’t play a top-six side again until we play Liverpool at Anfield on Boxing Day.
Hopefully, we can have quite a few points on the board by then.
