GOAL is reporting that Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno will be available on a free transfer next summer.
The former Sevilla left-back joined Liverpool on a £12M deal in the summer of 2014 and came through the youth ranks of his hometown club.
He has been unable to agree on a new deal at Liverpool and probably wants to move to a club where he will get more first-team football.
Sportslens are suggesting that Moreno would be a good option for Newcastle since Rafa is looking for an attacking left-back to challenge Paul Dummett for the left back spot.
Alberto Moreno – a free agent this summer
But there are a few problems with Newcastle getting Moreno to join the club.
Newcastle are not considered an ambitious top club anymore – that’s because we are not.
Mike Ashley has almost squeezed the life out of the club over eleven painful years, and it doesn’t look like he will be leaving anytime soon.
And it’s not at all clear that Rafa will be staying at Newcastle past next summer.
And if Moreno cannot agree a deal with Liverpool it’s also likely he will be sold in January rather than Liverpool wait until the summer to get nothing for him.
There are too many uncertainties at Newcastle at the moment surrounding the two main characters – Rafa Benitez and Mike Ashley.
We want to see Mike Ashley leave and Rafa Benitez to stay.
But it could even turn out the other way – Rafa leaves, and Mike Ashley stays; then the owner will continue to send the club down.
If Rafa leaves, it’s likely another relegation will happen fairly quickly.
There are just too many unknowns for top players to want to sign for Newcastle at the moment until things get sorted out between Ashley and Benitez.
Moreno will also want Champions League football at his new club, and he will not get that at Newcastle.
He has played 4 times for Spain and 134 times for Liverpool.
Sorry to be so negative but things are so uncertain at Newcastle right now.
What do you think?

Comment #4On Moreno, this is exactly the kind of player we should be going after, 26 so in his prime, Prem experienced, capped by his National team and also on a free.
Sadly, it will never happen unless something changes.
