Manager And Players Like This Important Newcastle Defender

There have been some young center-backs break into the England team recently including former Newcastle target Harry Maguire, John Stones, and Alfie Mawson to name but three.

It may be difficult for Jamaal Lascelles to break into the England squad this season, but his new center-back partner at Newcastle, Federico Fernandez, thinks he can become important for England as well as for Newcastle.

Federico has done well early in his career on Tyneside, and both his Premier League and International experience are showing through.

That’s what we lacked last season – experience – so Rafa did bring in a few experienced Premier League players in the summer.

As soon as Rafa arrived at the club in March 2016, he picked out Lascelles as one of Newcastle best young players and started to play him in the first team.

Newcastle manager and captain

That summer he made the then 22-year-old captain of Newcastle, and in a nutshell, Jamaal has continued to improve at the club under the manager’s experienced guidance.

This is what Federico has said about his young captain:

“Jamaal is young, he’s physical, and last season especially he had a great campaign throughout.”

“I think England’s style has now changed a little, the squad is younger than before – and, when I was at Swansea, my former team-mate Alfie Mawson got a couple of chances with England.”

“So I don’t see why one day Jamaal won’t get called up. Maybe England will look at him in some friendly games so he can show his quality for his country.”

“He needs to keep working. It’s not always dependent on just him, either. The team needs to do well to help him to achieve this.”

“I hope we can improve, that we can stay better, and one day he can develop. He is a very good defender – physical, strong and vocal – and he is a good captain too.”

“The manager likes him, the players like him, and he will be important for us this season and beyond.”

“Maybe he can be important for England too.”

Federico has been interviewed quite a few times of late, and he looks an experienced leader both on and off the pitch.

When Florian Lejeune comes back from his ACL injury – maybe in January – Newcastle will have five players competing for the two center-back positions.

They are Fernandez, Lascelles, Lejeune, Clark, and new signing Fabian Schar

Wonder which one of those defenders Rafa will sell this summer?

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

The sign of a well run club would obviously see Clarke sold but no doubt Ashley will trouser the Lascelles money.

    “geordiemark
PR stunt by Ashley to take the pressure away from him”

I think the protest groups are no where near as effective
as they like to think they are.
I’m not really sure that Ashley is feeling that much pressure.

I don’t think he sits at home thinking

“Shit 3 lads in anoraks stood outside an SD store in the pissing
rain last Saturday holding up a banner – I’d better fone Keith !”

I also think that these planned protests should submit their numbers first and if there’s not enough call it off. This would deny people like Jib the ammo to try and belittle any efforts made by them

To be fair Jail, nearly half the protesters I have seen tend to be kitted out in some form of sportswear sold exclusively by Sports Direct. It’s hard to take protesters like that seriously. Its like protesting for animal rights whilst eating a burger.

The potential take over is a load of bollocks. I’ll believe when it happens. It’s like speculation in the transfer windows, more bullish.t.
We’ll be back in the championship more than likely next season a division we belong in under MA tbh. What’s the point of being a premier league club if we can’t compete.

Lascelles, very good defender, excellent leader. With coaching, he can become an excellent defender too, but I don’t think he has the ball playing skills Joe Gomez and Harry Maguire displayed at the weekend and which Southgate is looking for in his Central Defenders.

I’m fairly sure England is out of wor Jamaal’s reach but would love to be proven wrong.

So the Irish Mirror is in on the tittle tattle surrounding NUFC. Nothing to do with the Brendan Rodgers position then ?

Perhaps all that tacky papers provide is confirmation that dodgy owners, cheap business tactics and PR chancers are fuelled by failure. A well run club with respected ownership an understanding of their customers – the fans has little recourse to behalf badly and therefore there is less fuel for the press to ignite.

Man City now have the clear upper hand over Man Utd and Mourinhio and their tacky profile.

Liverpool now have daylight between them and Everton.

Brighton seem to be clear of strife while enjoying their new purpose built Training Ground complex.

NUFC are mired in cheap press coverage of cheapskate owners and associates and talk of Pizzagate. Thanks Ashley or should that be bugger lugs ?

Pityackers, though – that’s a different story. Ashington is crawling with Mackem fans.

Closer to January and we get headlines of a new buyer. The fat f*k way of telling there will be no funds in January. We’ll probably get a couple of loanees and 35m for lascelles.

No ones buying and we are stuck with that b*trd with the now highly possible relegation.

We are told that the fixture list is spat out by a computer.. Im thinking that maybe it is but did they feed in the top six clubs and us first batch and fixture list was contrived . Oh how they Laughed down at the FA PREM .

Somethings not right with that fixture list early doors, needs investigating , it was unreal.

After talking to Officials at the FA I know they see the FA Prem as wide boys and making it up as they go along.. They poured scorn on them and it was said to me live in no uncertain terms .

The FA think the FA Prem boys are a Joke outfit..there’s a rift and a dislike of them at the FA.
