This is the worst start since the 1898-1899 season, but in truth, it’s even worse than that one.
In the first 10 games of that season back in the 19th century, Newcastle had four draws and six defeats – one draw more than we have today after 10 games played.
But back then in the 19th century when the iPhone was still 109 years away from being introduced, and sliced bread hadn’t even been thought of – we got our first win on 5th November – Guy Fawkes Day.
We took Liverpool apart 3-0 in the 11th game of the season at St, James’ Park to register our first win.
And in the five games following that first win, we had two more home wins beating Bolton 4-0 and West Brom 3-0.
And on Christmas Eve we beat Sunderland 3-2 away.
Looks like we didn’t play with a goalkeeper – no wonder we couldn’t win
So this looks like this is the worst start in our history – after 10 games played.
We need some wins, and we can still pull away from the bottom three once we can get that very first win.
There must be three worse sides in this league this season – so we can survive,
That’s right – isn’t it?
And it remains a disgrace that owner Mike Ashley continues to run Newcastle on a shoestring – and he has now overseen the worst start to any league in our 126-year history.
Same for Rafa Benitez, but if we can get a new owner in, then Rafa can always win our first trophy since back in 969.
That’s if he stays on board which we think he will do next summer.
But Rafa must get some support from the owner – whoever they are – for him to be able to achieve that.
We can still turn this season around – let’s keep supporting the team through these very tough times.
What do you think?
