Newcastle Youngster Given A Chance By Rafa – He Takes It

Rafa Benitez gave 19-year-old Newcastle’s U23 star Elias Sorensen a chance last week to join the first-team training, and it looks like he did very well.

Rafa is willing to give any youngster a chance, but they have to show Rafa they have both the ability and the temperament to play in the first team when they are so young.

Newcastle need a striker more than anything and if Elias can keep improving and maybe get a chance and score some goals for us – that would be like manna from heaven for Rafa and Newcastle.

The 19-year-old has scored a massive 13 goals for the club’s Under23 side this season and has looked outstanding.

Elias Sorensen in training this week

This is what Rafa has said when asked if Sorensen was close to a Newcastle debut, as reported in the Chronicle today:

“He did well.”

“He showed a good touch and good play. “He only played a couple of sessions, but you can see in the future he can be a good player if he keeps working hard.”

“He needs to keep focused and keep knocking on the door.”

Those will be encouraging words to the Danish youngster, and it’s what he must keep doing.

If he keeps progressing he could make his debut for Newcastle this season.

We hope he does because Newcastle desperately need to start bringing young players through to the first team.

He just needs to keep braying the goals in and Rafa won’t be able to leave him out of the first team fray much longer.

bambams, I was 9 when I left. I walked under the underpass through the village on the way to that big park or swimming at Concordia, but never paid any attention to the pubs.

I went back a couple of years ago. It’s funny how small everything seemed. I remember sledging down the hill past my house and it seemed really steep. It wasn’t by any stretch of the imagination. The walk to school took forever, in reality it was a five minute stroll, if you weren’t messing on with your mates.

We’re getting carried away with Schar and Ki
Ki did basic things well but he does not have shelvey’s inventiveness or diame’s ball winning prowess.
Schar looked solid but the defence still got ripped apart a few times with him on the pitch
were it not for some woeful watford finishing they would have equalised
I hope i’m proven wrong but these two players have NOT proven themselves to be starting 11 material
    not yet any way
    not in my view
Ritchie on the other hand is a bloody liability

Whoopie doo Jiblets, I haven’t got the slightest interest in the game of Rugby. Stupid game anyway, followed largely by men who’s idea of fun is to go out dressed as women and drink each other’s pee, that might explain you and Jane and your latest fascination with lady boys 😮

Jib, thanks a million for the heads up, I wasn’t aware. Unlike me. Jail, wing yer neck in. Rugby is a grest game. More complex than football, miles more respectful to refs and opposition and other fans. Builds stronger bonds on the pitch due to the physical element. People live it in Ireland, especially in munster

    Munster Mag,
Your opinion might be right, one of them has to be. But I’ve got absolutely zilch, zero and nada interest in the game, a bit like calling someone a tossa just because they don’t like F1, Hockey or cricket.

S-O-R-E-N-S-E-N great goal to let us snatch a point, draw was probably a fair result.

Many great games of 5 a side at Concordia – when I was younger.

    Good times

    Cheers fella

Great to see Sorensen on the score sheet again…..Let’s hope he gets the chance to develop before he is thrown in at the deep end. I am all for 5 or 10 mins when winning, just don’t want the undue pressure on the youngin.

    Looks a good size mind

    EGB,
Aye, that was just me taking umbrage to being called a tosser for not knowing the first thing about the game. You could apply that across the board to any sport someone didn’t follow. When i asked if the Wasps were any good i was expecting something like, yes they’re the current champions or they used to be but not any more. I wasn’t expecting to be called a tosser for asking.
